In attempt to clean up my list of thousands of players still waiting to get written about, here’s some quick hitters on some of the 2028 West Virginia prospects that appear to be destined for big things on the high school level.
– Recently became a 6-time West Virginia Wrestling State Champion
– Good build and toughness at 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds
– Just watch his film–this kid can play anywhere. Offensively lines up at running back majority of the time, but also takes direct snaps as a quarterback. Defensively, I absolutely love the speed he plays with coming down hill as an outside linebacker. Also chases down sweep plays to the opposite side of the field form behind. It would not shock me to watch him play strong safety in high school and beyond.
– Extremely well put together and looks absolutely chiseled out of stone at 5-foot-11 and 160-pounds
– Helped lead West Side Middle School (Charleston) to the Kanawha County Middle School Championship this past season
– His arm strength alone, makes him a prospect to watch. When he gets the chance to step into a throw, it’s something to watch. That said, he makes a ton of off platform throws with accuracy and plenty of zip too. Also has a dual-threat aspect to his game, too. I think this kid is just getting started.
– It took about two plays in the film to realize that Williams Jr. was the go-to target for quarterback Peyton Grigaby (listed above)
– Together, the duo helped lead West Side Middle School (Charleston) to the Kanawha County Middle School Championship this past season
– I really like what I see on his film below and other clips, that I’ve seen. Not sure of exact size, but he looks long and lean. Is an obvious downfield threat with when looking for the deep ball, but also has the quickness to take the edge on jet sweeps.
– Encouraging height for a 2028 quarterback at 6-foot and 145-pounds. This is a frame that has a ton of room for weight and muscle mass
– Did a nice job throwing the ball all over the yard for Jackson Middle School and will be off to Parkersburgh for high school
– Was one part of the dangerous pitch-and-catch tandem alongside fellow 2028 wide receiver, Brody Thorn. Those two put up some major numbers during this past eighth-grade season
– Really good-looking prospect with a promising build at 5-foot-10 and 155-pounds
– Put up video game numbers on the eighth-grade season, to the toon of: 29 rec., 920 yards and 14 touchdown receptions. 19 carries, 375 yards and four touchdowns. Also added 74 tackles and 12 tackles on defense
– As mentioned above, he and Karson Gooch Karson Gooch 6’0″ | 145 lbs | QB Jackson Middle | 2028 WV (listed above) were a nice tandem all season long. Coaches did a great job of moving Thorn around and making it easy for him to get the ball in space, in any capacity. He was certainly the straw that stirred the drink
Highlights
– If headed to the high school level already with a varsity-ready body, at a strong 6-foot-1 and 185-pounds
– Is leaving youth football as one of the most decorated players to every come out of the Cumberland Area Youth Football League (CAYFL) after winning back-to-back MVP Awards
– As noted above, he earned the William Bruce Lynn Memorial Award for a second time this year and helped lead his team to a (CAYFL) championship with a convincing 32-6 victory. He’d advanced beyond his years physically, mentally with football IQ and ability wise. There’s not much he hasn’t done on the middle school level and I don’t see any reason to believe he’s going to stop in high school. He looks like he’ll have a very bright future.
