A tremendous athlete on the rise, Barney is a smart, instinctive cornerback with outstanding closing speed and ball skills. He covers a lot of ground, knows how to tackle, and has an easy power five frame at 6-foot-1 175-pounds. He’s got some length, but his natural feel for the position and impressive ball skills made it an easy decision to add him to the latest rankings update. Not only was he added, but he was moved toward the top of the 206 list, now coming in at No. 5 overall in the state. Not only is he reliable in coverage, but he’s a fundamentally sound tackler who can deliver a physical hit on the ball carrier. Against the pass or the run, Barney knows how to make an impact. He shows quick feet, fluid hips, and the ability to stay with big receivers on the outside. He currently holds offers from Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech, among others. He shows a lot of potential and has a chance to be one of the very best cornerback prospects in the country down the road in the 2026 class.
Jorden Edmonds Jorden Edmonds 6'3" | 175 lbs | ATH Sprayberry | 2026 State GA – Sprayberry
A promising sophomore defensive back with excellent size at 6-foot-3 175-pounds, Edmonds is a receiver who excelled in coverage in the secondary. A versatile defender who can play multiple positions in the secondary, Edmonds is outstanding down the field who tracks the ball as well as any 2026 defender in the area. With his length and athleticism, Edmonds can leap up and catch the ball over opposing receivers. He flashed big-play potential last fall and the offers started rolling in this winter. This three-sport standout is one of the top overall athletes in Cobb County for his class, and he currently holds major offers from North Carolina, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oklahoma, USC, among others. Now, Edmonds was an easy addition to the 2026 rankings, ranked as the No. 25 overall prospect in the state. He checks a lot of boxes, has great hands, and his best football is still way ahead of him. Look for him to have a giant junior season next fall or the Yellow Jackets.
Jordan Smith Jordan Smith 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Houston County | 2026 State GA – Houston County
A breakout Middle Georgia defensive back with excellent size at 6-foot-2 185-pounds, Smith is a strong overall athlete with impressive ball skills. A hard-hitting tackler against the run, this Houston County Bear saw his recruitment take off this winter as he added power five offers from Southern Cal, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, N.C State, among others. His film was terrific, and now he’s ranked by Prep Redzone as the No. 26 overall prospect in the state for the 2026 class. As a prospect, he’s instinctive in coverage and covers a lot of ground from his safety spot. He can also help in the run game and knows how to make a big tackle in the open field. He looks the part physically, and his talent was easy to see last fall. As a sophomore last season, this playmaking defender made 34 tackles and one INT. Look for those numbers to improve in a big way as a junior in 2024.
