We have the strong armed kids who will stretch the field on any play. There are kids who can kill you with their arm or break your hearts with their running. There is also kids who truly impressed during the update with how well they moved in the pocket. So let’s go through and assign our QB Superlatives to the athletes in this group!
Strongest Arm
This was the first superlative I wanted to dive into when picking out what traits we were going to identify in this article. When signal caller has the most natural arm strength? Who can drop back and let it rip 40+ yards downfield or fire it into the smallest windows consistently?
AJ Seymour became the obvious answer as we got further and further into his tape. AJ excels in the most physical aspects of the QB position. The ball jumps out of his hand when he really tries to step into one. His deep passes can be delivered on a rope with little air under the ball compared to others in his class. The ball carries that velocity all the way to the receiver too. We don’t see the ball drop or lose velocity on its path. The 6’4″ 215 lbs QB has a big time arm.
Most Accurate Passer
Grantsburg put together an extremely efficient passing offense. They were able to do that because they field the most accurate QB in the class. Brock carved up defenses to the tune of a 62.7% completion percentage. It wasn’t a dink and dunk offense either. Brock finished with a 9.1 yards per attempt average that tells us he was aggressive with his decisions.
The only way you can consistently hit passes downfield at the rate Brock did last season is with accuracy. Accuracy to every level of the field. Not just being able to hit a spot, but pinpoint accuracy where he understands where the ball needs to be for his man to be most effective after the catch. He can hit his man over the shoulder deep downfield. He can float it over an underneath man with touch. We also see him fire it into his man’s chest on routes his man can use his body to box out. Matheny did a great job with ball placement and accuracy to every level of the field in 2023.
Highlights
Most Dangerous Dual Threat
In the strongest arm category I mentioned that AJ excels in the physical aspects of his game. So it is no surprise that he is back again as the most dangerous dual threat in the QB class.
When AJ isn’t ripping the ball downfield defenses have to worry about trying to keep him contained in the pocket. Central uses the 6’4″ 215 lbs QB in triple option run plays, and AJ fits that perfectly. He is a quick decision maker, has a solid burst of acceleration, and he has the second gear in the open field to pull away for the big play. Seymour is a powerful runner too. We see no hesitation to run between the tackles and lower his shoulder to pound through arm tackles. Not only do you have to contain his athleticism, you better have your chinstrap tight too.
Best Feet in the Pocket
This was a tough battle for best feet in the pocket. In the end, the honor had to go to Columbus’ Peyton Powers Peyton Powers 6’3″ | 175 lbs | QB Columbus | 2026 State WI . The sophomore proved to be a very poised leader of the offense in his first season as the full time starter. When I watched the tape and focused solely on his feet that became even more apparent. On a snap to snap basis the footwork was exactly the same. The same wide, stable base. The same footwork in his drop. The shuffle to avoid pressure and quick reset to get the ball out. The sophomores consistency in his feet shows me he is comfortable and confident in the pocket. I’m excited to see him lead this team in the fall.
Highlights
Most Well Rounded
The most well rounded QB of the Class is our QB1. Patrick is in line to take over the varsity job this fall and I couldn’t be filled with more anticipation. The sophomore checks off so many boxes already. The size at 6’2″ 190 lbs is there. He can slide around the pocket, and keep his eyes downfield. He won’t hesitate to tuck it himself and run. Patrick has the calm demeanor in the pocket needed to made correct decisions when the bullets are flying. Then you get to the actual arm talent. Greisen can attack any level of the field with plenty of velocity and he places the ball where his man can get it and there is no risk of turnover. When you take into account all the necessities of this position, Patrick checks the most boxes and earns the title of Most Well Rounded.
Most Productive Passer
The most productive passer in this group is Milwaukee Academy of Science’s Brayln Albritton Brayln Albritton 6’3″ | 170 lbs | QB Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2026 State WI . The sophomore already has two years of varsity experience under his belt. He wasn’t just a placeholder either. The offense asked him to step up and do a lot in his first two years and he delivered plenty of production and two playoff berths. At this point in his career the sophomore has amassed this stat line at the varsity level.
17 Games: 248/433, 57.3% Comp. Pct., 4,082 Passing Yards, 9.4 Yds/Att, 41 TDs, 240.1 Pass Yds/GM, and a 93.7 rating.
If you double those numbers over the next two years it would put him Top 5 in career passing yards and Top 10 in career passing TDs. Albritton is putting together a special career thus far. Keep an eye o him this fall.
