Continue ReadingThe 2025 Rankings were updated to 125 total players ranked in the class back in January but many more are on the Watch List. These Watch List players will eventually enter the rankings in the future and are names we will be watching closely next season. Here are some OL not currently in the rankings who you should keep an eye on in the fall.
A Class AA offensive lineman that I’m high on entering the 2024 season is Moorefield’s Brody See Brody See 6’2″ | 280 lbs | OL Moorefield | 2025 State WV . See is a mauling road grader for the Yellow Jackets and a very physical player. The 6’2 280 guard was a PRZ WV Class A First Team All-State selection this season and will be one of the premiere offensive linemen in AA next season. See plays with great leverage and often wins at the point of attack. He flashed good footwork and quickness as a junior who’s able to pull and block out in space. See plays until the whistle and shows a nasty streak with his play who will earn a lot of pancakes and knockdowns. He fires off the line quickly and has strong hands with a violent punch. As is typically the case with small schools, pass pro highlights weren’t available and is an area that I’d like to see film on, but See is a dominant run blocker who D2 programs should be looking at.
Highlights
Wheeling Park offensive lineman Hunter Means Hunter Means 6’3″ | 250 lbs | OL Wheeling Park | 2025 WV is a raw football prospect with a quality wrestling background who flashed potential and upside as a junior for the Patriots last season. He has a very limited junior highlight tape which makes it difficult to give a fair evaluation, but Means has the size and ability to develop into a scholarship-level OL at the next level. He’ll likely have some wrestling offers to choose from and ultimately may choose that sport in college, but could also play football if he chooses to. The 6’3 250 junior showed good feet last season with the ideal size to play guard in college. His wrestling background could benefit his development heading into his senior season and although limited highlights, Means showed the willingness to be physical with apparent strength that he can build on. Means makes our state Watch List but is currently ranked as the #21 OL in the 2025 class based on potential and upside alone but could move in either direction after next season depending on his available film.
Highlights
Spring Mills bolstered a talented offensive line in 2023 with a solid group returning in 2024 which includes Peyton Neff Peyton Neff 6’0″ | 270 lbs | OL Spring Mills | 2025 WV . Neff is a steady and consistent player for the Cardinals who is a bit undersized at 6’0 280 but plays above his size. While size may limit his ceiling, Neff makes up for it with his level of play and fundamentals. He’s a good leverage player with physicality that stands out on film. I love the nastiness and edge that he plays with and is a bulldog on the field. Neff is a tough blocker to match up with as he’s able to get under you easily due to his height and has the strength to move defenders consistently. I thought his footwork was solid, and he’s able to move his feet efficiently to stay in front of defenders. Neff had good reps on his highlight tape of both pass protection and run blocking and can execute each phase well. He’s a prospect who would be a steal for any D3 program if D2 opportunities don’t come. He will have plenty of eyes on him on one of the top teams in AAAA next season.
If we could peek into the future when the final 2025 rankings come out after next season, Frankfort OL Lane Lease Lane Lease 6’6″ | 245 lbs | OL Frankfort | 2025 State WV may be one of the highest stock risers in this offensive line class when it’s all said and done. He has limited highlights available right now but has a ton of upside and potential as a college prospect. Lease lists himself considerably bigger on Twitter/X at 6’6 245 than what’s listed on Hudl which immediately raises his ceiling to a new level. He’s still a bit lanky for his height but appears to be steadily putting on weight to fill out his long frame which makes him an intriguing and exciting prospect. Lease appears to be a quality athlete to pair with his elite length on the limited sample size of highlights available right now. Frankfort runs a Wing-T, so he’s learned how to be an effective run blocker in that scheme which can be difficult for taller offensive linemen. I think he’s one of the biggest hidden gems in this class who has incredible potential if he puts it all together. If Lease makes a full junior highlight tape, puts considerable time in the weight room while adding weight, and hits the camp scene hard he may eventually garner some D1 interest with a D2 floor at the very least.
Another consistent presence on the field and our site is Oak Hill OL Brandon Champion Brandon Champion 6’0″ | 250 lbs | OL Oak Hill | 2025 WV . He’s someone who we saw during last year’s camp season before his junior year and is always a steady and consistent player. Champion’s size hurts his ceiling a bit which puts him lower on our OL rankings, but his play on the field should not be overlooked. The 6’0 250 junior can play every position on the offensive line and will likely be a guard or potentially even center at the next level. Champion gets a lot of reps at left tackle so you know his coaches greatly trust him on the blindside even with not ideal length for a tackle. I think he’d excel at guard at the next level and his style of play would translate well at that position. He’s another shorter lineman who plays with good leverage and is a physical blocker who’s a tough matchup for defenders. Champion possesses sound fundamentals and technique while also having impressive physical strength for his age and size. He also moves well and puts himself into great position with his footwork which shows you why they like him at left tackle. He’s another D2/D3 tweener prospect due to size who may just play himself into getting some D2 looks and a steal if he ends up at the D3 level.
