Continue ReadingWith our rankings finalized for this round, I thought it may be interesting to take a look at where we have some prospects, and try to project who is going to put in the work and outplay where we have them currently ranked. I will pick 2 athletes from each class and give my reasoning as to why I think that prospect has all the makings to raise their stock!
Starting off with the class of 2025, we have a pair of defensive players I think will have a legitimate case by the end of the season to be ranked even higher!
- Ethan Carter Ethan Carter 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Hudsonville | 2025 AL , LB, Hudsonville- Ethan has all the makings to be an elite LB in this state. He has a good and athletic frame, and shows a nice ability to diagnose a play quickly and get to his spot. He’s pretty aggressive and tends to bring some power with his hits. As he gets more and more comfortable, and his commitment to the weight room remains, I would not be shocked if Ethan moves from the 8th slot into the top 5 if he booms this fall. He’s also the 81st overall and I think he could see a major jump there as well. Keep an eye on Ethan Carter Ethan Carter 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Hudsonville | 2025 AL this fall!
- Drew Rankin Drew Rankin 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Northville | 2025 State MI , DB, Northville- Drew has done nothing but impress me since he came onto the scene. He’s an absolute work horse who has shown a great commitment to honing his craft. If there is a showcase, camp or tournament going on, you’re sure to find Drew somewhere on the field. When he’s on the field, he is a stellar DB who has a nose for the ball, stays technical, and has fantastic recovery speed. He’s pretty open about feeling like he gets underrated, and I think this fall he has a great chance to leave no doubts!
The class of 2026 boasts a ton of great offensive players. I’ve got 2 offensive weapons that I think are ready to make the jump onto the scene and outplay where they currently sit in our rankings.
- Jaxson Dosh Jaxson Dosh 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Davison | 2026 State MI , QB, Davison- Currently Dosh is our 4th ranked QB, and with the weapons around him and his physical ability, I would not be shocked to see him climb that ladder even more. I really like what he can do with his arm, but on the ground he could be an absolute problem for defenses. With the threat of running or passing on any given play, he will probably be productive on almost every play. I am super high on this Davison team and it really starts at the QB position. I think they could be in for a great year with Dosh at the helm!
- Sullivan Garvin Sullivan Garvin 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL Allegan | 2026 MI , OL, Allegan- Sully blew away a ton of people at the PRZ Stock Up Showcase in December. He tested incredibly well and wound up as the MVP for the OL group amongst some solid competition. This kid can flat out move, but he’s also strong enough to bulldoze through just about anyone in his way. He’s very technically sound and does a nice job of anchoring down and doesn’t even get budged on pass rush situations. I think he could wind up as a top 5 offensive lineman in this extremely loaded class.
In the 2027 class, we have 1 offensive player and 1 defensive player that I think could raise their stock and become one of the elite players at their position!
- Cash Cooper Cash Cooper 6'2" | 165 lbs | DL Jackson Lumen Christi | 2027 State MI , DL, Jackson Lumen Christi- Cash is a huge effort guy. He is an unrelenting pass rusher with good size and a high motor. I think his long arms and ability to keep blockers from getting inside position on him and controlling him. Though his advantage will go away a little bit in that regard as he moves to varsity, I think if he continues to fill out and grow, I don’t think it will be an issue. He’s strong, quick off the ball, has good moves and a clear football IQ, and I see those things raising his stock a ton. He’s a top 20 player in the class, but I think he could grow to the top 10 with a productive season!
- Samson Smeenge Samson Smeenge 5'9" | 140 lbs | QB East Kentwood | 2027 State MI , QB, East Kentwood- There is no denying that Samson has a good amount of talent, and I think with the coaching changes at East Kentwood, this kid could boom. He’s going to have some competition as there are some transfers looking to battle for his spot, but I think getting pushed will only bring out the best in Smeenge. He’s a hard worker, a strong competitor, and is starting to develop really well. Right now we have him as a top 10 QB, but top 5 is definitely not out of the question as long as he continues his evolution into a starting varsity QB!
