Next up, we have the Capital Area Blue League. This is undoubtedly one of the premier leagues in Michigan, and houses some of the best teams in the greater Lansing area. This article has a whopping 20 new prospects I'll be going over, so let's get right into it!

'25 T | [player_tooltip player_id='1217507' first='Gus' last='Greenwalt'] | East Lansing | Hudl

Gus has some pretty solid highlights here. His size indicates he could have a high ceiling, and it looks like he has long-ish arms. Gus does his job, and he does it well, being an aggressive participant in the run-and-pass game. He does a great job at locking lout and driving his feet whenever he can. He's able to pull and reach the second level with good success as well. I currently think Gus has a great foundation, but his overall fundamentals aren't where they need to be yet. His footwork is a bit wonky, and his agility could be improved. I'll put him on the Rankings Watch List, and I hope I'll be able to see him sometime this offseason.

Juston has both offensive and defensive tape, but I like his offensive tape quite a bit more. He's a rock-solid guard with good tenacity. It's a bit difficult to see sometimes, but it looks like Juston has a consistent, powerful first step and his dominant in normal base and down blocks. He's also able to pull and execute the trap well. His biggest strengths are his tenacity and his consistent technique. He's a very good guard, and I hope to see Juston compete at some point this offseason.

Benjamin is a quarterback with several great traits, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he's able to do during his senior season. Big credit to him and the offensive structure, as he does his best to get the ball out quickly. Once he completes his dropback, he tries to get the ball out in time and pass with structure and rhythm. When he does this, he has some promising throws with decent timing. He's able to throw with some touch over the defense, and he gives a lot of his tall receivers good high-placed balls where only they can get it. He's also a big threat with his legs. He isn't the most athletic quarterback ever, but he has enough athleticism to scramble efficiently when the defense gives it to him.

Some things could be improved. He doesn't have the biggest arm, and is a bit limited with range and throw power because of that. His footwork can get wonky if he doesn't get the ball out within a few seconds. He can be impatient in the pocket and immediately starts getting jittery and that's where his fundamentals suffer. His throwing motion isn't the best either, but not the worst I've seen. I love that Ben is able to run a pass-focused offense with good consistency, and I think he projects well to the next level at Division 3 or NAIA.

H: 5'11 W: 150 (Hudl)

I know that East Lansing develops their DBs (and WRs) very well, and I really want to see Darryle compete in person sometime this offseason. His film is promising, but like most High School DBs, the pass coverage film is sparse. The first 40 seconds of his tape shows his pass reps, and although you can't see him the entire play most times, he has some promising stuff. The first highlight shows a good interception on an overthrow from the QB. He did a good job to run over and make a play.

The play at the 0:33 mark shows Darryle biting on a trick play for a moment before very quickly planting his foot to sprint back to his receiver for the PBU. Although he made a mistake in crashing down on the trick play, he immediately recovered and showed good change of direction and speed while doing it. There are a ton of run defense highlights, and I love how efficiently Darryle is able to break down and make tackles without sacrificing much momentum or power. From everything on film, Darryle is a good tackler and is quick to react to the run.

H: 5'11" W: 173

Dwataye has a great foundation as an elusive/speedy running back. His biggest strength is his speed, as he runs a solid 11.3 100M dash, and he's able to hit top speed quickly in the open field. I also like that Dwataye is a north-south runner, and he gets a lot of touches in the open field. His vision has shown some flashes, but that looks like something he could improve on. His overall athleticism and lateral movement in the open field also look decent but are incomplete in the film. I like his foundation, but I'd love to see him put on some muscle for next season.

Alex is a raw running back, but I like his potential. His frame, current running style, and contact balance make me think he has very good potential if he hits the weight room hard. He isn't the biggest, fastest, or strongest yet, but if he's able to fill out his frame then he'll be a very good Varsity running back on a high-powered offense.

Jay is a small but fierce defensive tackle. I hate to say this about any prospect, but if he was a bit taller, he'd be a highly-touted prospect. His motor is as good as any DT I've seen in highlight film. There are several occasions where Jay is sprinting toward a ball carrier and makes a big hit with several other teammates. He's decently explosive out of his stance and has a few block-shedding moves that get him in the backfield. He has strong hands and has a large tackle radius for his size. The kind of speed and aggression I see in Jay would make for an all-star prop or hooker in Rugby.

Cooper is a rock-solid off-ball middle linebacker. He plays extremely aggressively, especially between the tackles. Cooper reads the line, identifies the hole the running back is trying to run through, and oftentimes stuffs it with authority. He also has a few plays where he's able to shed a block before making a play. His sideline-to-sideline ability doesn't seem bad, but there are few highlights in that regard. With a bit more time in the weight room he could be a phenomenal linebacker at the next level.

How did I not know about Anthony while making my 2027 rankings? This is a future star in the making. His frame and running style remind me a lot of Michigan State commit Jaxson McCaig from Plymouth. Anthony has long legs, good contact balance, and good athleticism so far. He's able to make guys miss in tight spaces and shed contact like it's nothing. Look out, because as long as he does what he needs to do in the offseason, he'll be a future Division 1 running back.

Gabe does a great job as a mostly off-ball outside linebacker. He's great at setting the edge, forcing the ball inside, and stopping outside runs. Once the ball is handed off, he crashes down on the ball and makes solid tackles. When he lines up on-ball he has a good getoff and is able to quickly get into the backfield. I don't know if Gabe currently has the amazing traits needed to play high-level ball at the next level, but more time in the weight room, better IQ, and reaction time could benefit him greatly.

Brady is a very interesting athlete having played several positions for Grand Ledge. At Quarterback, I like the zip he's able to put on every throw; there's some indication of good natural arm talent. He's also able to scramble and get a ton of extra yards that way. As a receiver, it looks like Brady has solid hands and is a natural playmaker. As a defender, he crashes on the ball and is a willing tackler. It seems taht Brady is still coming into his own as a high school football player, and this offseason I hope he's able to find more of a full-time position that he can be utilized in. There's a lot of good stuff in several positions, and I think he could be great at whatever his primary position ends up being.

Ethan is the definition of an enforcer. Every hit in his film is hard, and it's apparent that he focuses on hitting very hard. He looks well-built at 6'3" 185, but I don't currently see the top-end athleticism needed to play safety at a high level. I'd need to see him at a camp to evaluate his pass coverage skills, but it looks like he's average in that regard.
Playing both on-ball and off-ball, Nathan is a promising young linebacker who plays with a lot of effort. I especially like his tape on-ball, as Nathan is able to speed by a lot of linemen into the backfield. It doesn't look like he's the most built or polished technically, but his effort and reaction time allow him to make plays where others don't. Off-ball, he makes some good plays in running situations, what you'd expect from a solid high school linebacker. He's also spent time as a running back. It's apparent that Nathan plays a big role for this Okemos team, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do next season.
