Played QB while he should be at linebacker mainly. Best player for a poor-performing team. Very physical when scrambling. Very physical in general. Good size as well. Need to see in person, but gut tells me that he’s physical enough, big enough, and competitive enough to be a great D3 guy.
After watching his full season highlights, I am convinced that there are too many coaches missing the boat with Ethan. On tape I see an underrated dual threat QB with the ability to extend plays, throw on the run or go pick up a first down with his legs. Also on multiple plays he was able to take designed QB runs for big gains with his solid vision and very good athleticism. I really think he has some special arm talent and has the physical tools to be molded into a solid QB. I think D3s should be all over this type of athlete.
Ethan has been playing out of his mind this season, and it should be talked about a lot more.
Check out his tape against Lansing Everett. Defensively, Ethan secured a phenomenal interception where he stuck onto the receiver downfield and snagged the underthrow. In addition, he had a number of impressive run stops. Defensively, Ethan is someone with excellent play speed, physicality, and all-around effort. He has the mentality of a college linebacker.
Offensively, Ethan is QB1. Although he doesn’t have great fundamentals, he’s able to stand firm in the pocket and deliver absolute missiles to his receivers. Again, not the most fundamentally sound or consistently accurate QB, but Ethan has a rocket for an arm and, in a lot of cases, wills Holt to victory.
Ethan deserves this rankings boost, and the sky’s the limit this offseason. As long as he tests well, I could easily see him earn GLIAC offers in May.
