There were nearly 60 kids from AYF-sanctioned teams that were selected and showed up to the prestigious event. Here are the top Wide Receivers that stood out to me from watching the three practices.
Brown was probably the fasted player I watched throughout all 3 practices and easily the quickest initially off the line. A guy that I put as an initial standout for team East and caught my eye right away while watching the receivers. You cant miss how fast this kid is and how good he runs routes. Those two things together give this kid an extremely bright future in football. He has good height and skill set already to be a top receiver in New Jersey.
- Very quick off the line
- Good size
- Knows how to win routes with technique
- Is a baller on both sides of the ball
I only had to watch Dennis for a few minutes to realize this kid is an absolute dawg. Not only at Receiver but you put him anywhere on the field and he’s going to play that position in an elite way. His quickness and ability to create separation in routes impressed me immediately. Overall I feel that he is going to be a top player in Mississippi in his class at whatever position he chooses.
- Quick breaks at Db/WR
- Small but fast and strong
- Elite route runner
- Made good block
- Small but powerful
- Fundamentally sound
Lefebvre was a guy that stood out to me because of his size being 6’2 175 he was one of the more solid looking guys as far as stature. He ran solid routes and was able to have a good reach on balls thrown too high. I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned out to be a big time tight end as he continues to develop.
- Can make moves at WR
- tall, built, strong
- Looks like more of a safety/ LB/ TE
Highlights
An initial standout to me because of his height, Lemons is a big threat to defenses not only because of his size but because he can run great routes and has the vertical to go up and get any ball. Ohio was heavily represented in standouts at multiple positions and Lemons was one of those guys that put on a great performance for the state of Ohio. An extremely bright future to come for Lemons.
- Tall
- Great routes
- Long arms
- Good build
Another one of my initial standouts for the West team Cross is a threat for defenses on every single play. He has a great build already being 6’1 165. It’s what happens after the catch that really impressed me about Cross. Not only can he run routes to get in the position to catch the ball but what he does after its in his hands put him as a top receiver that I watched all weekend. Going to be a top receiver in Michigan when it’s all said and done.
- Big receiver
- Athletic
- Looks the part
- Good routes
- Makes moves on DB
Highlights
Ferrari was a guy I didn’t really notice until day 2 of practice but once I got my eye on him it was hard not to see how good he really is. He has a great build and is only going to get stronger. Definitely a guy who can make big time plays at any moment. He has great speed that can carry him to be a top prospect in Arizona very soon.
- Speed that separates from most corners
- Can go deep with the best of them.
- Great build for this age
