There were nearly 60 kids from AYF-sanctioned teams that were selected and showed up to the prestigious event. Here are the top Offensive and Defensive Linemen that stood out to me from watching the three practices.
Vernon is an absolute dawg on both sides of the ball theres no doubt about that. Although he is one of the shorter linemen on this list he may be the strongest. The Philly native is going to be terrorizing Qb’s for the next 4 years at whichever high school he chooses to go to. Overall Vernon is a dominant force on both sides of the ball but will likely focus in on DL in high school. Exciting player to watch who disrupts offenses consistently.
- dominant DL
- strong/physical
- overall dawg
Howard is a massive Offensive line prospect being listed at 6’3 280 pounds already. He’s a big time force on the line and uses his size and strength to dominate defenders. Although he’s very big he’s still very athletic for his size and is not easy to get past as a tackle. Definitely a prospect to watch in North Carolina for the next 4 years.
- Huge 6’3 280+
- strong
- can move well
Highlights
Being already 6’5 265 Shakir is hard to miss being around other 2028 prospects even at a game like this. Although he was the biggest player on the field I quickly learned he is not big for no reason he’s a dawg as an Offensive Tackle. You will see him signing to a D1 school in 4 years as he continues to get better.
- Huge kid and still very athletic
- future D1 offensive tackle. Already has the size to do so.
- can move very well for his size
Varnado disrupted the Offensive line on multiple plays I watched over my 2 days at practice. Don’t run up the middle with Varnado on the other side of the ball was my take away from watching him.
- Very strong
- has the ability to not only disrupt an Oline but has some speed to track down a QB in the backfield
- not the tallest but very dominant on the interior Dline
- overall Dawg on DL
Wade was a guy I immediately noticed when going over to the West teams practice. Being listed at 6’4 225+ Wade has the size and ability to take his football career as far as he want. Definitely a name you will be hearing on Saturdays and possibly Sundays.
