Throughout the month of February, Prep Redzone Oklahoma is updating our prospect rankings for each class. And for the state’s 2027 class, we’re debuting the first batch of rankings. Earlier today, we released the 2027 Top 25 and throughout the week, we’ll be putting the spotlight on different players and position groups. In this post, we’re putting that spotlight on the top five prospects in those rankings. These five are the best of the best. For a few of these guys, they already have multiple D1 offers. For others, it feels like only a matter of time after outstanding freshman seasons. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more prospect breakdowns within the 2027 class. And check back each Monday this month for another class update!
Jenks standout Semaj Stanford Semaj Stanford 5’10” | 165 lbs | ATH Jenks | 2027 State OK was our pick for 2023 Freshman Of The Year so it’s no surprise that he comes in at number one in the first batch of rankings for the state’s 2027 class. We knew Stanford was going to be special but we didn’t realize it was going to happen so soon. From the very first game, Stanford was an impact player on offense, defense and special teams. As his freshman season came to a close, Stanford started picking up P5 offers and they aren’t slowing down. Stanford played multiple positions on offense, returned kicks and was an excellent defensive back. He was one of Jenks’ leading tacklers last fall. Stanford has a very high ceiling and should become a national prospect soon.
Bixby defensive tackle Kaeden Penny Kaeden Penny DL Bixby | 2027 State OK is an absolute monster up front and he’s primed to have a big 2024 season with the reigning champion Spartans. Bixby had a very experienced defensive front but they lose almost everyone and that opens up a spot for Penny to slide in and start impacting things in a major way. He’s already on the radar for college coaches and has earned one offer and there will be more on the way. The state of Oklahoma has produced a few top level defensive tackles over the last few years and Penny could very well be the next one in that group. Out of this group, he might not have as much varsity time as the other four, but we can’t wait to see him in person this spring.
Do not overlook what’s happening in southeastern Oklahoma because there are some absolute ballers down there and Valliant has two of them and they’re from the same family tree. 2027 defensive lineman Kyng Golston Kyng Golston 6’2″ | DL Valliant | 2027 State OK is the younger brother of Kenny, who’s a highly ranked 2026 running back in the state. The younger brother, and we do say younger and not little, Kyng is the next up at Valliant and is already earning the attention of college coaches. Golston already looks the part and after seeing him on tape and in person this past weekend running around in a 7v7 tournament, it’s hard not to have him near the top of the class. Golston is right there with Bixby’s Penny in terms of 2027 “monsters” in the trenches.
Washington 2027 standout Case Alexander Case Alexander 6’2″ | 170 lbs | LB Washington | 2027 State OK was right there with Stanford in the running for 2023 Freshman Of The Year. Alexander helped lead the Warriors to a second straight state championship and was among the team’s leaders in tackles with over 100 on the year. And for those not familiar, Case is the younger brother of 2024 Iowa State TE signee Cooper and the son of former NFL TE Stephen Alexander. Case could very well see the offensive side of the ball this fall with his older brother graduating but regardless, Alexander was one of the better linebackers in the state as a freshman. The Washington freshman already looks the part physically. The two-time state champion Warriors have another marquee prospect.
For the second straight season, Broken Arrow had a freshman running back that immediately turned heads and became one of the top running backs in the Tulsa area. During the 2023 season, Octavian Roberson Octavian Roberson 6’0″ | 165 lbs | RB Broken Arrow | 2027 State OK was that player and he had an excellent freshman season. He produced at a high level and the most impressive part about that is his production against some of Broken Arrow’s toughest competition. We’ve also gotten a chance to see Roberson in action a few times in the last month, at our camp and in a workout and the Tiger running back can move. He had one of the fastest 40-yard dash times at our camp and is incredibly smooth with his running. It looks effortless.
