Continue ReadingThe 2025 Rankings were updated to 125 total players ranked in the class back in January but many more are on the Watch List. These Watch List players will eventually enter the rankings in the future and are names we will be watching closely next season. Here are some QBs not currently in the rankings who you should keep an eye on in the fall.
A two-sport standout in the new Class AA to know is Tyler Consolidated QB Brady Strode Brady Strode 6’1″ | 160 lbs | QB Tyler Consolidated | 2025 WV . Strode had a very productive junior season for the Knights leading them to a playoff berth and doubles as a talented player on the hardwood too. He completed 57% of his passes on 107/186 passing for 1,500 yards and 13 total touchdowns. Strode could be considered an ATH as he’s a quality overall athlete but took a big step forward in his development this season under new head coach Kyle Ritz. His athleticism is apparent rolling out and extending plays before throwing accurately on the move. Strode has quality arm strength that can stretch the field with touch or put zip on the ball on sideline throws. He also showed good timing on digs and out routes with accurate ball placement. His TD-to-INT ratio has room for improvement, but another off-season working in their new scheme with a year of it under his belt should pay dividends for his senior season.

The 2025 QB class is deep and that continues with Berkeley Springs’ Aiden Cain Aiden Cain 6’3″ | 175 lbs | QB Berkeley Springs | 2025 WV who earned WVSWA Class AA Honorable Mention All-State honors as a junior this season. Cain took over as the full-time QB1 this season after seeing time later in his sophomore season. He’s a nice-sized quarterback at 6’3 175 who isn’t a burner but certainly can make plays with his legs while running a lot of option in their system. Their personnel dictated more of a focus on the running game this season, but Cain flashed some arm talent when they did air it out. He does a nice job buying time inside and outside the pocket and has the ability to throw well on the run. Cain is accurate on short and intermediate passes with the versatility to throw with touch or zip. Downfield throws are a work in progress for a variety of reasons and that’s an area that if he improves on next season, will raise his ceiling further.

The Ripley Vikings aren’t known for their passing game but junior quarterback Tyson Pritt Tyson Pritt 6’0″ | 190 lbs | QB Ripley | 2025 WV flashed at times for them this season. His stats aren’t going to wow you but when watching his film, there are traits to work with in the right system. First and foremost, he’s an athletic option at the QB position paired with quality 6’0 190 size. Pritt has the ability to escape the pocket and make plays with his legs or throw on the run. He’s a touch passer who’s at his best inside of 20 yards and can throw accurately on intermediate passes over the middle or to the sideline. Pritt did flash the ability to lob passes over the top of defenses at times, and that’s an area that he can take a step forward in. The drop in classification to the new Class AAA should greatly benefit the Ripley program moving forward and could result in more success for Pritt and the team.

All-MSAC Honorable Mention selection Liam McGuire Liam McGuire 6’1″ | 190 lbs | QB Spring Valley | 2025 State WV was a pleasant surprise when he posted his junior highlight tape after our last 2025 Rankings update. The 6’1 190 righty split time this season with a senior but should be their go-to guy in 2024 for his senior year. The very first clip in his junior highlights grabs your attention quickly with an effortless bomb from the 44-yard line to the back of the end zone hitting his receiver in stride. His arm strength is very apparent throughout his highlight tape and downfield shots were common. McGuire flashed running ability as well this season rushing for just under 300 yards and three touchdowns while splitting reps. His mechanics looked fluid for someone seeing their first varsity action, and he has a great foundation of tools to build on heading into next season. McGuire may just find himself in the Top 10 of our 2025 QB rankings the next time they are updated and is someone who could see a lot of college attention as a senior.
