William Barker William Barker 6’1″ | 195 lbs | LB Foothill | 2025 State NV is a talented defensive back who has the ability to be a versatile outside linebacker in college. William was named Foothill’s Defensive MVP, so be on the lookout for college coaches to notice his production sooner rather than later. William has the size, strength, instincts, and long speed to thrive as a hybrid linebacker in the run game. Flashes of next level power and acceleration get displayed finishing tackles in the open field. Quick feet, good awareness and athleticism highlights Williams potential to be a versatile third down defender at the next level.
Highlights
Avant Gates Jr. Avant Gates Jr. 5’10” | 170 lbs | ATH Foothill | 2025 State NV is another underrated Foothill Falcon on this list. The talented two-way prospect is sure to see more defensive attention in 2024. Avant’s length, quick feet, and next level explosiveness suggests he can thrive on the outside in college as a cornerback. Athleticism and power allow Avant to disrupt or intercept passes at the catchpoint. Good quickness, size, and strength gets displayed when Avant easily disrupts receivers in press coverage. Good shed technique and tackling ability in the run game highlights Avant’s versatility as a back-end defender.
Highlights
Despite a short playoff run, Aiden Krause Aiden Krause 6’4″ | 190 lbs | QB Coronado | 2025 State NV flashed his next level ability all throughout the 2023 season. Aiden recently received an offer from UNLV, and I would expect more offers in the region to come in this spring. I was impressed with Aiden’s improved accuracy and athleticism. A good combination of anticipation and arm strength gets displayed firing the ball into tight, underneath windows of defenses’ zone coverage. Vision and flashes of next level explosiveness gets displayed escaping pressure and easily running for touchdowns in the red zone.
Amani Maulupe Amani Maulupe 6’1″ | 295 lbs | OL Spring Valley | 2025 State NV quietly made great strides in his OL development during the 2023 season. I am confident Amani is set to be one of the highest-rising Nevada offensive linemen this fall. Be on the lookout for his first offer to come in sooner rather than later. Amani displays quick feet, good top speed, and flexibility covering defenders up at the second level. Lateral quickness and next level power allows Amani to drive defensive linemen from the point of attack. Coaches love Amani’s balance and knockout punch displayed in pass protection. Amani’s size, strength, active hands, and physicality suggests he can be a versatile blocker in college.
Melvin Spicer IV Melvin Spicer IV 5’10” | 165 lbs | QB Bishop Gorman | 2025 State NV is another prospect buried on Bishop Gorman’s deep roster. He holds offers from Portland State and Hawaii, so don’t be surprised when that list gets longer this fall. Melvin has split time with multiple quarterbacks throughout his career but should receive more playing time for the Gales in 2024. Melvin’s next level combination of strength & speed allows him to bounce off arm tackles and create chunk plays when forced to evade pressure in the pocket. Melvin displays good arm strength leading receivers to the sidelines on deep outs and other intermediate throws. A good combination of accuracy and decision-making shows when Melvin dices up opponents’ zone coverages with timely strikes from the pocket.
