We continue our breakdown of the position groups across the state in the 2025 class. The film we are now evaluating is the wide receiver group from all over Illinois! Today we examine 2025 Film Room: Central Illinois/Southern Illinois Wide Receivers!

[player_tooltip player_id='278901' first='Brayden' last='Trimble'] (Mt. Zion – 6'0” 160)

Trimble is a receiver that really makes guys miss in space. He is the definition of Mr. YAC! Does it on shallow cross routes, bubble screens, and turns them into big plays. Took one bubble screen 75 yards for a TD. High points deep balls and is a smooth route runner. Very good in the return game. Can be a gadget guy as well running it on sweeps and lining up all over the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='278890' first='Gavin' last='Simmons'] (Chatham Glenwood – 6'0” 175)

Simmons is a physical 6'0" 175 pound receiver that can play both the slot and on the perimeter. When he gets bubble screens he fights through tackles getting downfield and has almost a running back mentality with the ball in his hands with his physicality. Good going over the middle and makes clean transitions from catch to run. Quick on short routes and will break it up field for extra yards when opportunities present themselves. Has some kick return ability as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='330443' first='Trey' last='Peters'] (Mahomet-Seymour – 6'4” 200)

Peters is a power forward at 6'5". He is a monster in the end zone high pointing passes on fades to the corner. Very strong hands making contested catches in the red zone. Good on wheel routes and slants. He does a good job of positioning himself against the defense to make it an easy throw for his QB on crosses. Tracks the ball well when in the air.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292760' first='Matt' last='Williamson'] (Streator – 6'2” 170)

Williamson is a good redzone threat with his size and good hands in traffic. Solid route runner and is a good downfield blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292164' first='Tykell' last='Hammers'] (Quincy – 6'1” 183)

Hammers is a slippery receiver that makes guys miss after the catch. Can take bubble screens for long TDs. Get this guy the ball in space and he can make plays with his speed and quickness downfield. Shifty with his short route running. Can take top off defense with his downfield speed. Like the potential here!

Mar'Quan Gary (Normal Community – 6'1” 175)

This past season the Normal Community pass catcher racked up 891 yards and an insane 18 TDs! His tape jumped off the screen! Elite burst with the ball after catch and is a YAC MACHINE! Takes short routes and turns them into long touchdowns. Tracks the ball in the air and adjusts well. In the endzone he can high point and out jump the DB. Very impressive!

[player_tooltip player_id='1292684' first='Coy' last='Taylor'] (St. Joseph-Ogden - - 6'0” 170)

Taylor is a good athlete that started the tape out winning a jump ball in double coverage. Can also track it over his shoulder or snatch it out of the air on crosses. Does a nice job of keeping his feet in on sideline passes. Very good going over the middle and is slippery with the ball after the catch is made. Toward the end of tape I saw something I've never seen. He lined up 15 yds behind line of scrimmage then was thrown the ball and the lefty let it rip for a long TD pass.

[player_tooltip player_id='1292790' first='Noah' last='Wilcoxon'] (Villa Grove – 6'2” 175)

This central Illinois two way player can impact on both sides. On offense he showed he can really adjust well to the deep ball, has good body control, and hands were excellent. Really liked how well he relocated when the QB would scramble finding open grass.

[player_tooltip player_id='492690' first='Jaylen' last='Pennington'] (Cahokia – 5'11” 140)

Pennington is a thin receiver that has a lean build. More of a possession guy at this stage that is effective on out routes working the chains well getting first downs. Quick in tight spaces. Like how he has a feel for finding the weak spot in the end zone on his redzone routes.

[player_tooltip player_id='331483' first='Chase' last='Reynolds'] (Collinsville – 5'11” 181)

Reynolds is the definition of an offensive weapon! He lines up all over the field making plays no matter where he is. Can go the distance as a wildcat QB. Home run hitter with the ball in his hands being creative with the rock. Lines up as a back, wide out, slot, and can even throw it a little. Lots of YAC when he has the ball with his burst of speed in the open field. Tracks the ball well and even plays some defense as a DB. Athlete that is one to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1135400' first='Griffen' last='Becker'] (Breese Central – 6'4” 170)

Becker is a big receiver at 6'4" that loves to high point the ball in the endzone. His favorite is the double move to the corner where he can out jump opponents for TDs. Not the fastest, but is very physical running after the catch. Catches with his hands and has a wide catch radius reeling in passes.
