Every recruiting cycle, I have around 10 prospects I will absolutely stand on the table for, and in the 2025 class, one of those recruits is Mt. Zion’s electric WR Brayden Trimble. I, along with PRzIL, have been singing his praises since he was a young freshman, and I have to pat myself on the back for seeing that projection finally come to fruition this fall. After his first offer rolled in from Miami (OH) in June and the Northwestern Wildcats joined in later that month for his first P5 offer, Trimble has added Iowa and Iowa State offers in September to fully solidify his status as a Power5 prospect. Absurdly athletic, the 6’1, 170 lber. is a highlight reel waiting to happen, and is on a different plane than his opponents in terms of speed and elusiveness. Trimble can break half a dozen tackles in a single rep like it’s a walk in the park. Some of my favorite traits of his are his big-time burst, twitchy and powerful cuts, and ability to explode out of his breaks and create a ton of separation at the top of the route. He possesses great hands, eye-popping, and impressive vertical ability when climbing the ladder and high-pointing the football, where he seems to levitate and create an insane vertical to pluck the ball high out of the sky, and he will also lower his shoulder and run a would-be tackler over like they’re his little brother. Trimble is the complete package in terms of a playmaker and can turn routine screens, dumps, and quick passes, not to mention punt returns, into massive momentum-shifting TD plays. Get the ball in his hands and good things are going to happen. Every time I watch him I become more and more of a fan.

Stats: 5 Receptions, 173 Yards, 4 TDsrnOne of the best WRs in Illinois didn’t hesitate to show why he entered the season ranked where he was. More impressive, he put up those monster numbers in only one half of football. Trimble is an elite mismatch. His speed and short area quickness/agility jump off the tape and are far superior than the other talent around him. After the catch, Brayden has excellent vision to find the best path to create the most yards possible after the catch. It is clear that he is confident in his abilities. He is a legitimate D1 talent, and a nightmare mismatch at the HS level. What really impressed me was how talented of a blocker Brayden was. He was aggressive, and had the strength to put DBs on their backs. Trimble was able to help add TDs to the scoreboard without touching the ball thanks to that blocking ability. This is one of IL’s need to know prospects.

The Class of 2025 wide receiver started off his second season on varsity with a bang. Trimble, a 6’1 170 lbs junior from Mount Zion, amassed 174 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns in Friday’s contest vs Limestone. What’s even more impressive is that he did it on 5 receptions in only 2 quarters of play. Trimble showed off his blazing speed from the beginning of the game, stretching the field vertically in the pass game and taking multiple screens for big gains. Additionally, he impressed with his blocking on the perimeter and at safety on defense. Good luck catching Trimble in the open field, as this rising junior’s stock is soaring after week 1.

The Mt. Zion wide receiver was a gamechanger in every way his sophomore season. Trimble measures in at 6’0, 170 lbs and possesses a variety of skills that make him a rising prospect going into next season. Trimble accounted for 15 touchdowns and over 1,100 yards last year. He makes some outstanding catches, almost to the point where it doesn’t matter how many defenders are guarding him. Additionally, Trimble shows off elite speed and shiftiness in the open field. Whether at wide receiver or as a returner, Trimble is incredibly hard to tackle. This playmaker is sure to build off his sophomore season, as Trimble is flying up recruiting boards across the country.
