<p><strong>Over the next few weeks we will be breaking down each 6A/5A conference and the likely favorites for Offensive & Defensive POY. There is still a lot yet to be determined with plenty of movement to come. Here are the top athletes returning in the PIL.</strong></p>

<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>1.[player_tooltip player_id='974833' first='Cash' last='Landau'] 25' WR Franklin </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Landau continues to up his stock on the 7v7 circuit after earning 1st team all-league honors and being a 6A stat leader last season. The 6-4 230 pounder can play split out or be your TE. He went for 831 yards and 15 TDs during the regular season. The biggest question is how much the graduation of QB [player_tooltip player_id='1091633' first='Will' last='Reid'] (Co-Conference POY) will affect others. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>2.[player_tooltip player_id='511865' first='Wyatt' last='Andler'] 25' RB Wells </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>The Co-Conference POY last season. Andler went for 1,070 yards and 19 TDs on 158 carries, in a hybrid RB/FB role. Against non-league competition PIL teams continue to get crushed. If he can help his team counter that, he will once again be the player of the year. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>3.[player_tooltip player_id='511863' first='Dontrell' last='Betts'] 25' RB Roosevelt </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Betts is a 2x 1st team all-conference RB, finishing in the top 10 statewide as a junior, while rushing for 961 yards and 14 TDs on 143 carries. He's not the biggest kid but is extremely elusive. The Roughriders went 7-3 last year and could win the PIL this season. He is your POY if they do so. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>4.[player_tooltip player_id='709506' first='Deckard' last='Hale'] 27' ATH Grant </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>The fastest rising prospect in the PIL. Watch the film and you see an athlete playing at a different speed and level than others. He was an all-conference athlete on D as a freshman and should be one of the best in the PIL on offense this year. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>5.[player_tooltip player_id='1110998' first='Miles' last='Green'] 26' RB Roosevelt </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Green is going to project on D but should be one of the best in the PIL on offense after earning 2nd team all-league honors at RB last season. The 5-10 195-pound athlete should do well as it relates to accolades with the Roughriders being a potential conference champion. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>6.[player_tooltip player_id='1112354' first='Tre'Marion' last='Crawford'] 26' ATH Madison </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>The undersized scat back racked up 1st team all-conference honors as a sophomore, for a team that struggled going 2-7, making the accolades that much more impressive. He is the future in the PIL rushing 106 times for 455 yards and 3 TDs. Look for him to do a little bit of everything, including return the kicks and punts. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>7.<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1216422' first='Brave' last='Johnson']</strong> 25' ATH Jeff </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Maybe the best overall athlete in the PIL. The 1st team all-league RB is a 3-sport kid who can play the QB spot. At 5-10 155 pounds he probably won't be a big-time recruit, but definitely a conference POY candidate. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>8.<strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1322090' first='Jackson' last='Poole']</strong> 25' WR Wells </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Poole was a 1st team all PIL standout on D but also did well offensively racking up 2nd team WR honors. He will once again be considered one of the top two-way athletes in the PIL. </p>
