Illinois is a state that has a dominant athlete in every mold and every position. One of those categories of athletes is massive targets at WR/TE. Athletes that are well over 6′ tall with a wide catch radius to match. Those big catch radiuses are the focus of today’s article. We are going to identify some of the biggest WRs/TEs that are ranked in the PRZ IL database. Let’s get started!
Colton was used to stretch the field to perfection. The 6’5″ and now 210 lbs WR has enough speed to get deep, and he dominates when asked to high point the ball. He times his jump well, has soft hands to maximize his radius. Hess is at his best attacking vertically up the field. Flys, posts, and even hook & gos allow him to track the ball and catch it over his DB. Check out the film of the uncommitted senior.
Highlights
You get every bit of reach out of Smith. Just watch him make that one handed snag to start his junior highlights. Then watch him high point the fade in the end zone on the next play. Terrence excels at being aggressive at the catch point. With his length and strong hands, Smith is one of the biggest targets you will find in the state of Illinois. The junior also has enough speed, and uses his long strides to eat up ground as he stacks DBs. Check him out, and get him on campus this offseason.
The next big time TE prospect coming out of IL is JC Anderson JC Anderson 6’7″ | 230 lbs | TE Mt. Zion | 2026 State IL of Mt. Zion. The sophomore has elite size with long arms, and huge mitts for hands that easily pluck the ball out of the air. JC stands out because he isn’t just a raw athletic and size mismatch. The underclassmen is also a smooth route runner, has the body control to make difficult catches at awkward body angles. That balance also makes him hard to bring down after the catch. The sky is the limit for the special TE prospect. Give the film a watch.
Highlights
We wrap things up with a more raw prospect in the Class of 2026. Liam is a long striding runner who eats up ground with those strides as he works to get behind DBs. He doesn’t quite have the body control to make the sudden breaks to be an effective route runner, yet. That will come with time. Right now, Liam is a redzone monster and an after the catch problem to contain. He relies on his physical superior to win, and the works most of the time. Check out the raw, high upside prospect.
