The off-season is officially here and everything kicks off this weekend in Murfreesboro with the 2024 Prep Redzone Tennessee Winter Showcase, live from the Siegel Soccer Complex.
More than 120 prospects are set to attend this weekend’s event with some of the state’s best talent set to show off their abilities and push their recruiting stocks to another level, including some known names that are on the brink of breaking out.
On the offensive side of the ball, the quarterback group we have set for Saturday looks to be one of the best positions in attendance with several top names ready to compete.
Leading the way in this group are a trio of senior quarterbacks in Sam Evitts Sam Evitts 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Sequatchie County | 2025 TN (Sequatchie Co.), Blake Owen Blake Owen 6'1" | 225 lbs | LB Cookeville | 2025 TN (Cookeville) and Jakoby Cox Jakoby Cox 6'5" | 210 lbs | QB Kenwood | 2025 TN (Kenwood) that have the tools to make their way into the college game next year. All three are physically well built quarterbacks that have big arms along with the mobility that bring dual threat abilities to the playing field.
The underclassmen should be well represented as well. Some key names to know about and watch at the Showcase this Saturday include Kaedyn Marable Kaedyn Marable 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB BGA | 2026 State TN (BGA), Kannon Burroughs Kannon Burroughs 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Green Hill | 2026 TN (Green Hill), Jackson Stroup Jackson Stroup 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Gallatin | 2026 TN (Gallatin), Blaine Stansberry Blaine Stansberry 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Oak Ridge | 2026 TN (Oak Ridge) and Hudson Tucker Hudson Tucker 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Briarcrest Christian School | 2026 TN from Briarcrest Christian.
Staying in the backfield, the running back position doesn’t look as deep but there are few guys set to attend that have the upside to reach the college game. Possibly the biggest name that will be in Murfreesboro on Saturday is rising Maryville senior back Price Davis Price Davis 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Maryville | 2025 State TN . Ranked as a current top 10 junior running back, Davis is an athletic guy that can take this Showcase and use it to his advantage towards establishing himself as a top in-state back for the #TN2025 class.
Another top name to follow is rising junior Kelan Anderson Kelan Anderson 5'7" | 160 lbs | ATH Westlake | 2026 TN . Coming out of the East Nashville program, Anderson is actually transferring down to Georgia this off-season but will still be at home this weekend to display his talents in hopes of earning some college offers. Other backs to follow this weekend include Jhabari Ellis Jhabari Ellis 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Arlington | 2025 TN (Arlington), Gage Lee Gage Lee 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Camden Central Camden TN | 2025 TN (Camden Central), Jayden Milton Jayden Milton 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB West Carroll | 2025 TN (West Carroll), Rico Ward (M.A.S.E.) and Davidson Academy junior Caden Stroud Caden Stroud 5'11" | 205 lbs | LB Davidson Academy | 2026 TN .
Moving out wide to the receivers, this group will be interesting to watch come Saturday as I see some under the radar talent that can use the Winter Showcase as a boosting off point in their recruitment.
USJ senior Noah Spencer Noah Spencer 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH University School Of Jackson | 2025 TN is coming off a strong junior year with some momentum and a player that could develop into an FCS, G5 player at receiver or safety with continued work. Garrett Cyphers Garrett Cyphers 6'1" | 165 lbs | WR Brentwood Academy | 2026 TN (Brentwood Acad.) and John Binion John Binion 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Lebanon | 2026 TN (Lebanon) are two athletic pass catchers with tremendous upside, especially in the slot.
Marshall Co. rising senior Aja Jones Aja Jones 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Marshall Co. | 2025 State TN should be the most explosive wideout in attendance and someone with as much potential as anybody at Saturday’s Showcase. Three sleepers to watch this weekend at receiver include Xavier Bynoe Xavier Bynoe 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Beech | 2025 TN (Beech), Jackson Tate (Sequatchie Co.) and Nolensville rising senior Landon Smotherman Landon Smotherman 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Nolensville | 2025 TN .
The tight end group isn’t large for this weekend but one guy to mention is Davidson Academy big man Wes Harper Wes Harper 6'3" | 215 lbs | TE Davidson Academy | 2025 TN . The Bears 6 ‘3 pass catcher is a reliable guy that has produced at a high level for multiple years now and should be one of the more consistent performers at this weekend’s event.
Possibly the best overall position group at this weekend’s Showcase should be the offensive line. We have an absolutely loaded collection of offensive trench monsters set to compete this weekend with some top names attending that can take their games and recruitments to another stratosphere.
Warren Co. (TN) big man Xander McCormick Xander McCormick 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Warren Co. | 2025 TN has already received an offer from MTSU and is building steam towards adding several more. Two East Tennessee O-linemen in Alex Boyd Alex Boyd 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Maryville | 2025 TN (Maryville) and Ethan Eubanks Ethan Eubanks 6'5" | 255 lbs | OL Oak Ridge | 2025 State TN (Oak Ridge) have the mobility and size to become Top 20 in-state recruits at their position with continued work in both the weight room and playing field.
Page rising senior A.J. Johnson A.J. Johnson 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Page | 2025 TN has some of the best potential at the O-line position for the #TN2025 class. Sporting a great body frame for added weight, Johnson can bend and he moves very well, showing the upside to stay at tackle in college. Davidson Academy big man Mason Melgoza Mason Melgoza 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL Davidson Academy | 2025 TN has college size but still shows room for development.
Four seniors to be offensive linemen with upside to follow this weekend and throughout the upcoming year will be Hayden Warwick Hayden Warwick 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Carter | 2025 TN (Carter), Kody Powell Kody Powell 6'6" | 335 lbs | OL Raleigh-Egypt | 2026 TN (Raleigh-Egypt), Wyatt Bakker Wyatt Bakker 6'2" | 275 lbs | OL Father Ryan | 2025 TN (Father Ryan) and Bo Bryan Bo Bryan 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Rockvale | 2025 TN from Rockvale. Warwick is a steady performer with interior versatility. Powell is a massive human being (6’7 320 lbs) that could play tackle or guard in college. Bakker is a tenacious blocker with interior O-line versatility while Bryan is a hidden gem with mobility and tenacity.
The underclassmen up front will be well represented as well. Three of the best O-linemen from the #TN2026 class in Camden Goforth Camden Goforth 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL McMinn | 2026 State TN (McMinn Co.), Austin Hoane Austin Hoane 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Cookeville | 2026 State TN (Cookeville) and Charlie Edgeworth Charlie Edgeworth 6'7" | 320 lbs | OL Baylor | 2026 TN (Baylor) have signed up to perform this weekend and all three will be fun to watch as we get to see how good these guys are in an up close and personal atmosphere.
Independence junior Syler Green Syler Green 6'3" | 275 lbs | OL Independence | 2026 TN won MVP honors at last year’s PRZTN combine and will be back this Saturday to earn top honors yet again, especially after landing his first offer recently from Eastern Ky. Carter junior Jake Coffey Jake Coffey 6'3" | 265 lbs | OL Carter | 2026 TN is one to follow over the next two years as he has good size and flexibility as a possible college offensive guard or center.
A 2027 rising sophomore to know about this weekend and a talent that could become a Top 50 in-state recruit in time is Lipscomb Academy big man Weston Hicks Weston Hicks 6'6" | 275 lbs | OL Lipscomb Academy | 2027 TN . Standing 6 ‘6 250 pounds, Hicks has the size, arm length and athleticism to develop into a possible Power Five, D1 prospect with continued growth and development.
This appears to be a strong collection of offensive talent to scout this weekend with some guys that could jump out of the shadows and establish themselves as top recruits to follow this year. We also have some underclassmen to pay attention to, so Saturday in the Boro should be an outstanding opportunity to find talent and get them on the recruiting map!
