We talked about the hardest hitters at the LB position across the state of Illinois. Now we flip to the other side and look at some of the big backs taking on those hard hitting tacklers. The backs with powerful frames, impressive balance, and the leg drive to pick up the yards after contact and move the pile. These five backs have big play potential to go with their ability to set the tone and move the pile. Let’s roll the tape!
Tyler brings a well balanced skill set to the Marian Catholic backfield. His 6′ 210 lbs frame is well built to handle a large workload and physical play style. Tyler has no problem ripping through arm tackles and piling up the yards after contact. The junior doesn’t just win with violence, though. Lofton also is blessed with next level lateral agility that makes him a nightmare in tight quarters. The junior RB has shown that he can beat a defense with power or agility.
The title of Woods’ highlight video is Man Amongst Boys. That is a very good summary of what you see. Larevious is a punishing runner. Tacklers seem to bounce right off him when they try to lower the shoulder. The low center of gravity that he plays with seems to be inches off the ground because we don’t see Larevious get knocked off balance very often. He lives behind his pads and runs his feet through contact so well. Teams looking for a physical back need to check this junior out. Check out the exciting film.
Jaiden is a ball of power and short area agility. The 5’8″ 190 lbs junior is a stout, sturdy back. He is built with a low center of gravity that he uses to make impressive, twitchy agile moves or run through contact. It is impressive watching how Jaiden can go from one play where he runs through a tackle or moves the pile 5 yards downfield, and then in the next clip he will hit multiple spin moves leaving defenders tackling air. Padilla is able to play through the trash in the front seven, and isn’t slowed down by obstacles around his legs. Take a look at the tape.
Highlights
Zeb is the type of player you want getting off the bus first. He looks like a player who won’t hesitate to run you over when you first see him on tape. You continue the tape, and it is clear that Rashid is a well rounded athlete. He is a reliable recurring option who tracks the ball really well and can go and get the ball. The junior has enough lateral wiggle to get the angle on defenders and from there he easily rips through arm tackles. The junior also plays LB with a physical demeanor. Check him out.
