High School Blitz will present a junior showcase this coming Sunday afternoon at Brookland-Cayce High School. Kickoff is slated for noon. The game will feature 88 of the elite junior players in the state. Prep RedZone South Carolina will give you a dozen players from each team to keep an eye on.
The teams are split into East and West Teams. Here is a look at the West squad.
Ian Grissom Ian Grissom 6'1" | 160 lbs | QB Rock Hill | 2025 State SC QB, Lewisville
Grissom is coming off a junior season that saw him throw for over 2,600 yards and 35 touchdowns. He has a strong arm and likes to sit in the pocket to find the open receiver. He only ran for 81 yards this past season so he’s more apt to hurt you with his arm than his legs. Playing on the Class A level, he will have an opportunity on a big stage to show he belongs among the best in the state.
Ladainnian Martin RB, Greer
Martin (pictured) missed two games but still managed to account for 1,580 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns. He’s 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. He runs with good vision and can put his foot in the ground to elude defenders. Once free, he can also run away from the defense. But he’s not afraid of contact and runs well between the tackles.
Jamarcus Smith Jamarcus Smith SC WR, Gaffney
The Indians had three receivers with over 45 receptions and 500 yards with Smith being one of those. He finished his junior season with 49 catches for 787 yards and a team-best 11 receiving touchdowns. He has the knack for big play but runs crisp routes and can get open in tight spaces. Smith also plays basketball, so he uses his 6-foot-1 frame well in shielding defenders.
Brett Young Brett Young 5'10" | 175 lbs | LB Clinton | 2025 State SC LB, Clinton
The Red Devils were one of the better defenses in the state and Young was a huge reason. Young finished as the leading tackler with 131 and he also added 17 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and two interceptions. He’s slightly undersized but plays on the outside and can drop in coverage as well as attack at the line of scrimmage.
Cam Smith LB, Spartanburg
Smith is quick and difficult to block at the point of attack. He finished with 79 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. He plays some running back, but his future is definitely on the defensive side of the ball. He’s 5-foot-10, 185 pounds and plays much bigger than that.
Onis Konanbanny Onis Konanbanny 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Heathwood Hall | 2025 State SC DB, Heathwood Hall
Konanbanny is an intriguing prospect that just moved to the United States in 2022. He grew up playing soccer but that has translated to being a talented defensive back at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Konanbanny is one of the few SCISA players in the all-star game, so he has a chance for a good showing on a larger stage.
Zayvion King Zayvion King 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Ninety Six | 2025 State SC ATH, Ninety Six
King is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound two-way standout. He plays mainly at running back for the Wildcats but also has the ability to play linebacker. He has a physical style that fits well on both sides of the ball and his future at the next level might be on defense.
Jaiden Thomas ATH, Broome
Thomas plays the middle linebacker spot and is able to read plays and then react quickly. He will also see some action at tight end. He’s 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds with the ability to add some weight to his frame. He might transition to the outside at the next level.
Victor Goree Victor Goree 6'2" | 265 lbs | OL South Pointe | 2025 State SC OL, South Pointe
Goree is a 6-foot-2, 260-pound tackle/guard. He is comfortable run blocking or sitting back in pass protection. Once he engages a defender, he’s relentless and plays until the whistle blows.
Kevin Peay Kevin Peay 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Lancaster | 2025 State SC OL, Lancaster
The Bruins got better as the season progressed and Peay is one of the reasons. He’s 6-foot-4, 300-pounds that moves well for his size. He’s able to be a pulling lead blocker, sit back in protection or move straight ahead in a power setup.
Sterling Sanders Sterling Sanders 6'4" | 305 lbs | DL Blythewood | 2025 State SC DL, Blythewood
Sanders is a 6-foot-5, 295-pound force at the tackle position. Even at that size, he has a low center of gravity that makes it hard for opposing linemen to block him. He accounted for 34 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks last season.
Tripp Bryant Tripp Bryant 5'10" | 160 lbs | P River Bluff | 2025 State SC K/P, River Bluff
Bryant was named the Region 4-5A Specialist of the year after connecting on 32-of-32 extra points, 7-of-9 field goals with a long of 47 yards and averaging 34 yards a punt with nine of those downed inside the 20-yard line.
