Logan Ryan
Logan Ryan is TE1 for the 5A All-State team. He is the leader in receiving yards for tight ends in the 5A. Prototypical size for a TE, measuring in at 6’5″ 215 pounds. Throughout the season, he accounted for 50 receptions for 690 yards and 12 touchdowns. Ryan is a very well rounded tight end. He is a great receiving threat, plus his blocking ability his phenomenal. Ryan has very good athletic ability due to his very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and balance. Ryan demonstrates good mental processing. He’s able to identify the void in the zone, and will sit in it. Ryan has good separation quickness, because of his athletic ability and play strength. He uses his athleticism to juke out LBs or DBs. Impressive that he’s able to move shifty as a big body target. Will outrun defenders due to pure speed. Physical receiver too. He’ll use his physicality to beat jams at the line of scrimmage, or separate from the defender. Good release vs zone coverage too. He will adjust above or below his frame to catch the ball. Fluid catching. Very good body control. Against Cherokee Trail, he went up and caught the ball 1 handed in the end zone. He kept both feet in bounds and made the touchdown. Time to dive into his blocking abilities. Ryan looks like an extra offensive linemen when he’s blocking. He demonstrates a low pad level to out leverage the DB/LB. Very good hand placement/hand strength which allows him to control and steer defenders. He locks up defenders with his blocking ability. Outstanding tight end prospect.
One of the starting tackles on the team, Gage Ginther Gage Ginther 6’6″ | 275 lbs | OL Fossil Ridge | 2024 State CO . Ginther is a behemoth, and with good reason too. He measures at 6’6″ 290 pounds and his play speaks for itself. A stat that rose to my eye was 19 pancake blocks! He’s very strong and has good quickness coming out of his stance, whether it’s a 2 point or 3 point stance. Ginther is a mauler, demonstrating good competitive toughness and playing after the whistle. Shown a low pad level to out leverage the defensive linemen. Harder for taller offensive linemen to do which is impressive. Ginther has good hand placement to control and steer defenders making holes for the run game. Good at creating blocks at the first level, finishing them, and then moving to the 2nd level. Good anchor against the bull rush. Digs feet into the ground and stops them in their tracks. Good against the spin move too. Will swat defenders arms away.
Treter played guard and tackle throughout the season, however for the All-State Team, I have him starting at tackle. He measures at 6’6″ 300 pounds and he’s a big ol hog molly. Treter has very good strength. He was consistently overpowering and winning the matchups against the defensive line. Showed good competitive toughness by playing after the whistle and continuing the block through the play. Treter has good athletic ability due to good speed and solid acceleration. He excels at pull blocking and getting out in the open space being the lead blocker. Many techniques in his toolbelt to propel him to the next level. Demonstrates a low pad level in combination with good hand placement to control and steer defenders. Creating holes at the line of scrimmage, or creating more time or his QB to throw. He has a powerful anchor. Will lock out defenders and become immovable. Good against the spin move as well. Will use his hand to swat arms away.
One of the starting guards on the All-State Team, Cruz Garcia Cruz Garcia 6’3″ | 260 lbs | OL Legend | 2024 State CO is a stud coming out of Legend. Garcia made a big impact during his senior year at Legend. He was an integral part of their dominating run game. Garcia stands at 6’3″ 260 pounds, making him a great size for a guard or center. Garcia has good athletic ability due to good speed, quickness out of stance, and solid acceleration. He’s shown good competitive toughness and will consistently play after the whistle. Low pad level to get underneath defenders pads and overpower them to the ground. Good footwork/footspeed to mirror DL. In combination with good hand placement and strength, it makes him a formidable guard. Good anchor against the bull rush, and excels in the run game. Good pull blocker and will be in front of the RB creating holes.
Highlights
The starting center for the 5A All-State Team. Kael has a great size for an offensive linemen. Measuring at 6’4″ 300 pounds, Kael is a powerful man in the trenches. He’s got good athletic ability due to very good quickness out of snap into blocking stance, solid speed and acceleration. Very powerful offensive linemen. Good competitive toughness and will play after the whistle. Low pad level against the defensive line. Good hand placement to lock out defenders. Good hand strength to steer DL away and create holes. Footwork mirrors the defenders which allows him to beat them in 1 on 1s. Useful with combo blocks and going out to solo blocks. Good anchor too.
Andrew Ossola
Andrew Ossola
Another starting guard for the All-State Team. Andrew Ossola happens to be the starting tackle for the championship winning Columbine Rebels this past year. He was a major part in why they won, and had such a brutal running game. I slotted him in as a guard and I think he’ll excel even more as one. Andrew measures at 6’2″ 245 pounds, great size for an offensive linemen. He demonstrates all the abilities that a quality offensive linemen has. Starting off, he has good quickness coming out of his stance. Goes into a low pad level and will utilize his good hand placement to lock out the defensive linemen. Very good hand strength to steer them away and create holes. Easily pushes D-linemen down. He’s a mauler and shows good competitive toughness. He does this by playing after the whistle, and assisting other O-linemen in finishing blocks. Good at combination blocks going into solo. He wraps up the D-linemen like a bear. Ossola is a good pass blocker, but really stands out in the run game. Fantastic player that ended the season out on top.
