West Virginia 2024 Rankings Update – Top 10 Defensive Backs

There are now almost 400 names in our 2024 Rankings with PRZ WV ranking every senior prospect that had film on their HUDL to evaluate. While he may be on the shorter side, Powell is a fluid athlete who has some of the best athleticsim in the entire 2024 recruiting class. He shows plus abilies in multiple types of coverage, has fluid hips, and stay with his wide receivers and plays both the man and the ball very well. Another very good athlete who has good size for the position. Also an outstanding wide receiver and could very well play that side of the ball at the next level if he needed. As those above him as well, also plays well against the run and is a sound tackler. Good athelte with quality speed with a reported 4.6 forty-yard dash. Fluid hips and agile, easily able to change direction without losing a step. Strong downhill player against the run and a good tackler whose not afraid to be physical. Plays strong press coverage, lcoking wide receivers up at the line of scrimmage. Shows good man-to-man covreage skills as well. Reports a 4.52 forty-yard dash which adds to the potentail even more. There are parts of his game that will need to have the kinks worked out but the size and speed combination is a gamble that coaches should be willing to take a u0022chanceu0022 on. He's a physical defensive back who plays the run well and in coverage shows quite a few promising traits as well. Multiple strong performances. Possess great size at 6-foot-3 and 185-pounds and has quality athleticism as well. If his 40-yard dash time can improve, his stock would likely rise quite a bit. Does have a good bit of explosion in his game with a 36u0022 inch vertical and is quite strong as well with a 330 squat and deadlift. Has versatiltiy payling both safety and cornerback for Huntington. Was superb in man-coverage over the last few years, plays tight and with his man, rarely allowing seperation. Good ball skills and awareness with knack for coming down with 50-50 balls, always seems to be int he right position to make a play. He could've been ranked in our rankings as an athlete, running back, or defensive back and was productive on both sides of the field for Roane County this season. Good athlete with good speed and elusiveness, not afraid to be phyiscal either which is always nice to see. Superb athlete who will likely have his his fair shre of opportuniteis to be an athlete at the next level. Dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands and makes plays on a consistent basis. I personaly like him more as a safety prospect, allowing him to roam in the middle of the field and taking advantage of his athleticism. Plays well down hill against the run and offers great support against the pass as well with very good awareness and ball tracking skills.
