The Central Eagles fielded a very young team with many players emerging as potential stars. One of them was DeAnthony Dial DeAnthony Dial 5’11” | 160 lbs | DB Omaha Central | 2026 State NE , who flashed several times on the Eagle’s secondary. DeAnthony mainly played safety, but showed his versatility with how he could line up in the slot or step up as a box safety. DeAnthony isn’t the biggest DB, so it was impressive to see his physicality and and willingness to take on the ball carrier. Dial displays solid tackling technique allowing him to make secure open-field tackles. DeAnthony ended his sophomore campaign with 34 tackles, a TFL, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. I expect him to build on that in year 3 with another offseason of development.
We got another stud from Omaha Central! Avry Harris Avry Harris 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Omaha Central | 2026 NE is a player with elite potential and was a top 5-10 player in his class before a preseason injury knocked him out for his sophomore campaign. I’m expecting Avry to come back even better than before as he should be one of the top returning weapons in 2024. He possesses next-level speed that can stretch defenses vertically and is among the best route runners in the state. Avry hauled in 32 receptions for 449 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns as a freshman. Watch out for Avry to make a MAJOR comeback!!
Elkhorn Valley’s Korbin Werner Korbin Werner 6’4″ | 200 lbs | ATH Elkhorn Valley | 2026 State NE is a sleeper prospect from the 8-man ranks. Korbin is a budding two-way star at tight end and outside linebacker for the Falcons after racking up 90 tackles, 11 TFLs, two sacks, a forced fumble, and two blocked kicks. Werner also hauled in 20 receptions for 183 receiving yards and two touchdowns on offense. Watching Korbin’s tape, it’s clear that he’s just a flat-out football player! Defensively, Werner is a dominant edge presence who can create pressure against the pass and shut down opposing run games. He does a great job tracking the ball with the burst to chase ball carriers downfield. On offense, his 6’4″ and 200-pound frame and athleticism allow him to be lined up in various spots to exploit mismatches. He’s very physical and is a near-lock to come down with jump balls. Korbin also displayed a bit of a mean streak when blocking in the run game. Great all-around player!
Highlights
Sophomore RB Angelo Walker Angelo Walker 6’0″ | 180 lbs | RB Creighton Prep | 2026 State NE turned in a very promising season, giving myself and the Jr. Jay faithful, lots to look forward to in the next two seasons. Walker was part of a three-man rushing attack with QB Coniglio and fellow back Jacob Ruby, so he didn’t see a ton of carries. However, Angelo did convert his 56 carries into 283 yards and four rushing touchdowns while averaging 5.1 yards a carry. Angelo runs with a great mix of vision, speed, and toughness. He has no issue running the ball between the tackles and can completely flip the field with just one quick, sharp cut. He displayed nice patience behind his blockers and allowed his vision to steer him to open lanes. At 6’0″ and 180 pounds, Angelo does not go down easily and will continue driving his legs to fight for extra yardage. Lots of potential as a receiving option out of the backfield. High upside prospect who could shoot up recruiting boards this offseason.
