This article will focus on 6 upperclassman athletes that got some great work in and put a great foot forward.
Joe McCarthy Joe McCarthy 5'11" | 195 lbs | QB Petoskey | 2024 State MI , 2024 QB, Petoskey- Joe looked about as cool and in control as ever on Sunday. In the 1 on 1 drills, he delivered a few really well placed balls with some zip, and had a few deep balls that were placed in a bucket. Right from warmups he seemed really focused and ready to compete, and he absolutely did that, as he was one of the top performers of the day at the QB position.
Danilo Guberinich Danilo Guberinich 6'5" | 285 lbs | DL Detroit Catholic Central | 2025 State MI , 2025 DL, Detroit Catholic Central- Danilo really turned some heads, running a 4.75 40 time, and turning in a ton of 1 on 1 wins. He is big and physical, with some speed and agility to compliment his pass rush skills. It’s very clear he was the best defensive lineman at the camp, and it showed, as he was able to snag DL MVP of the entire camp. Be on the lookout because he will likely emerge as a top target for the next level in the state of Michigan.
John Baker John Baker 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Cass Tech | 2025 MI IV, 2025 TE, Cass Tech- This kid has a ton of physical upside! Testing at over 8 feet for the broad jump and testing at 5.5 40, he was a really impressive performer amongst TEs. I know that he is a really good defensive player, but he is continuing to evolve as a pass catching threat as well which I think is huge! Keep an eye out for this dude as a possible 2 way star this upcoming season.
Cole Attanasio Cole Attanasio 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Northville | 2025 MI , 2025 LB, Northville- Linebacker MVP Cole Attanasio Cole Attanasio 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Northville | 2025 MI looked like a sure fire MVP pretty early, and continued to ball out through the duration of the camp. His lateral movement is really good, and he had a pretty quick 40 at a 5.2. He was really good in coverage, and he seemed to move really well in position specific drills. He seems like a natural and I would not be shocked to see him really light it up in his senior year. That Northville defense was stout this past season and he will be a leader of it once again.
Anthony Bonnetti Anthony Bonnetti 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Richmond | 2025 MI , 2025 QB, Richmond- Anthony was QB MVP, and it was pretty clear why. He was able to hit a ton of passes of all varieties of difficulty. Numbers wise, he tested out as a great athlete too scoring a 4.82 40, which was tops among QBs, and one of the best of the overall camp. I really liked seeing his footwork and arm strength, 2 things I was curious about. Overall I love seeing the gains he has made, and am excited to see what he can do heading into next year.
Drew Rankin Drew Rankin 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Northville | 2025 State MI , 2025 DB, Northville- Drew is one of those guys that is going to give you great, reliable work no matter what day it is. Drew was a DB MVP, and a pretty easy choice. He did everything you want. He could get physical in 1 on 1s, he showed great speed to stay in the hip pocket of his receivers, and had great closing speed if he lost a step. His testing numbers looked good, his 1 on 1s were mostly wins, and he was incredibly coachable. I think a D3 team could snag him and it would be a steal, but I think a D2 could come knocking sooner rather than later. Either way, this is a Saturday player without question.
