Palmer is a true dual threat QB that checks all the boxes for a future at the major D1 level. At 6’3” 190 lbs. he possesses a great combination of size, length, and athleticism. He’s a savvy QB that is a creative playmaker and has a great ability to improvise. Can drop back in the pocket and deliver on time with accuracy and velocity using a quick release, escape pressure and throw off platform on the run, or use his speed to tuck it and take off for explosive plays. Great feel for the game and command of the position for a sophomore. Coming off a break out sophomore season throwing for 2,500 yards and 23 touchdowns while leading St. Augustine to a section championship. Holds four offers to date from western region P5 and G5 programs but is a big time prospect that will be a double digit offer guy as he develops.
4 Offers: Arizona, Washington State, Colorado State, San Diego State
Impressive young QB with a live arm and plus athleticism. With a flick of his wrist the ball jumps out of his hand with velocity whether throwing the deep ball or zipping one into a tight window at the short/intermediate levels. He’s quick into his drop landing with a well-balanced throwing platform and good ball placement. Great ability to stretch the field vertically and place the ball with good touch and trajectory. Doesn’t sacrifice any arm strength or accuracy throwing on run to either direction, does a good job feeling pressure and escaping while keeping his eyes down field for a receiver. Very effective as a ball carrier, not a burner but is a smooth athlete and instinctual runner to make defenders miss in the open field. As a sophomore, he’s led one of the top programs in southern California to a state championship throwing for over 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. Two P5 offers but will his recruiting stock skyrocket this offseason.
2 Offers: Cincinnati, Maryland
Highlights
A lot to like about Slone’s skillset. At 6’2” 165 lbs. he’s an advanced passer for a sophomore with a high football IQ and great poise. He’s quick and decisive with his reads and shows the ability to process information quickly and go through his progression. Very technical and precise with his footwork and mechanics in the pocket with great rhythm and timing. Plus arm strength and accuracy, demonstrates that he can anticipate and throw his receivers open and in stride to allow them to run after the catch. Throws a good ball to all three levels and shows he can layer the ball over second level defenders to hit his target. Great ability to create on broken plays, he does a great job stepping up in the pocket to manipulate pressure and create a throwing lane. A good athlete that can be elusive and make plays with his legs when needed. Picked up his initial offer from Utah State over the summer but with the breakout season he just had as a sophomore his recruiting should see a boost this offseason.
1 Offer: Utah State
Sophomore season was cut short due to injury but flashed dynamic athleticism and playmaking ability in his six games. At 6’1” 185 lbs. he’s explosive and can attack defenses with both his arm and his legs. Possesses a strong arm with good touch, shows he can throw the deep ball with accuracy and mix up velocities at the short and intermediate levels to throw a catchable ball. High level body control and coordination to effectively throw on the run and from off balance throwing platforms. Good sense to feel and avoid pressure, knows when to escape and can extend the play with his ability to scramble. As a ball carrier, he shows great all around speed and short area acceleration. Has good lateral quickness and cut ability to avoid defenders with the top end speed to rip off big yardage and be a home run threat. No offers yet but expect that to change as he’s able to showcase his talent and ability.
