This game is going to showcase some new names that aren’t yet household names, but I would not be shocked if they are eventually. Mason will look to cap off a magical season, meanwhile Forest Hills Central will be looking for a huge win after losing the D2 title game last season to De La Salle. This is one of the games that will be can’t miss this weekend.
Mason has finally broke through and beat Detroit King, and subsequently gotten to Ford Field. They have struggled for quite awhile to break through that glass ceiling, but with a bunch of 3rd and 4th year varsity starters, they finally got the job done. That isn’t all Mason is looking for though, as they want to capitalize on this opportunity to grab that trophy. They’ll look to do it under the offensive direction of Cason Carswell Cason Carswell 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Mason | 2025 State MI who has been as impressive as any QB that will be at Ford Field this weekend. He has a strong arm and makes good decisions. When he isn’t slinging it to one of his weapons on the outside like Tyler Baker or Kaleb Parish, he’ll be handing it off to AJ Martell who is one of the most elite RBs in the state. Mason will be hungry and ready to go on Sunday, and they will be tough to deal with.
Forest Hills Central is back at Ford Field after losing to De La Salle last season, and there is some optimism that this game could go much differently. This team has steadily gotten better all season long, and I think there is a path to victory, especially defensively. Purdue commit Ty Hudkins Ty Hudkins 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Forest Hills Central | 2024 State MI is a ball hawk who will be making stops at all levels all over the field, while also being a viable option to find the end zone at receiver. QB Mason McDonald tends to find an open receiver on most drop backs, as he is extremely accurate and has nice touch when necessary. I think if they can hold Martell on the ground, they could absolutely leave Detroit champions.
Overall, this game will have players for all levels of colleges from P5 all the way to D3. I think this game could be a tight one and will come down to whose defense breaks first. This will be a can’t miss game!
