I took a timeout to review the roster of attendees. It is deep. It is strong. Here were a handful of names that I am looking forward to seeing live and in person.
Timber Creek was a team that actually played two quarterbacks for stretches during the season. Although I am not sure whether this was by design, injury, or performance I am sure, however, that both quarterbacks deployed were effective. Barring a freshman phenom, the job in 2024 appears to be Reilly Hoffacker Reilly Hoffacker 6’3″ | 205 lbs | QB Timber Creek Regional | 2025 State NJ ‘s for the taking. In a timeshare this last year, Hoffacker was 69 of 131 for 840 yards with 10 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
Maybe I am bias because I coach defensive line, but I love to see long, rangy 6’3″ sophomores in attendance. Exavier Hughes Exavier Hughes 6’3″ | 210 lbs | DL Erasmus Hall Campus | 2026 NY is a bit of a mystery though. Aside from me only covering New Jersey – and thus unfamiliar with New York – Hughes is a bit of a mystery. Unable to find stats or film, but knowing his potential as per Prep Redzone Next, I will be sure to get a good look at him on Saturday.
Highlights
Mangiocavallo might be the next blue chip offensive line prospect to come out of New Jersey. As an edge player on defense Mangiocavallo made 55 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, 3 sacks for the season. I love the first play of his highlights where from the far side of the field on a roll out play he hustles to the QB while maintaining his pass rush lane, draws a hold, and hustles downfield to make the tackle. He is an offensive lineman too.

An opposing coach I spoke with during the season described Mitchell in one word: legit. Only a sophomore, Mitchell is a back who finds creases, slices, and can gash defenses for big gains in the Pioneers’ spread offense. In 2022 as a freshman on varsity Mitchell slashed 112/725/7 on the ground. With a new head coach at the helm, Mitchell went for 91/513/10 on the ground. However, despite the drop in numbers I would not consider this a regression, as Mitchell hauled in 38 receptions for 354 yards and 2 touchdowns in a pass-first offense. This allowed him to open up his game a bit more, showcasing his skills as a rusher, pass catcher, and – colleges will love this – pass protector.
I took a few moments to watch Braz’s film and was impressed by the rising junior. Braz is a nice deep threat who can line up anywhere on the field – including outside either hash, either slot, or as number #3 in trips. He has shown an ability to make catches from awkward positions, falling down, and also going up to high point the ball. He catches with his hands as well. The Chaminade product is also his team’s kicker and punter.
