On the biggest stage, not only did we see athletes step up and stand out from the crowd on one side of the ball; we also saw several athletes make massive impacts as two way players. This is a special group of athletes, and many of them came in as the highest ranked players in the tournament. They have the skills to dominate at many positions at the HS level, and their teams capitalized on that. The athletes in this article are the ones that need to be well known by college coaches. Especially the uncommitted ones. Let’s dive into this group of special college quality athletes.
Stats: 11/16, 220 Yards, 3 TDs, 15 Carries, 102 Yards, 1 TD, 7 Tackles, 1 PBU, 1 INTrnIt was a performance that I will remember fora long time. Lodi’s QB/S Mason Lane Mason Lane 6’1″ | 195 lbs | ATH Lodi | 2024 State WI dominated Camp Randall just like he did every other field this season. The recent Badgers commit is a high quality athlete. His combination of athleticism and football IQ made his play at safety look easy. He could get to anywhere on the field that the ball was going to be. His ball skills are natural. His burst and agility give him the ability to change direction quickly and get to top speed instantly. That athleticism also made him a nightmare to contain as a runner. The QB play further exemplifies how much of a natural athlete Mason is. He was able to sling it all over the yard with velocity and accuracy. Mason was in control of the game from the first snap to the final whistle. I’m excited to see him on the Badgers.
Stats: 1/2, 20 Yards, 1 TD, 22 Carries, 118 Yards, 2 TDs, 11 TacklesrnJP led his team into an absolute battle with Waunakee in the D2 State Championship and came out on top. It was a dominant display of talent and the ability to take over a game from JP. The 6’1″ 190 lbs senior gave a master class on how to QB a triple option team. He seemed to always make the right choice with the football. His pitches were at the last possible second, leaving defenders no chance to chase the ball instead of tackling him. Doyle’s athletic profile is next level quality just like the mental side of his game. He has speed to go the distance and roam the secondary from sideline to sideline. His agility, burst, and change of direction are all major strengths, and you can count on him to make the tackle as the last line of defense. Doyle is one of the top uncommitted seniors in WI. Get on him, now.
Highlights
Stats: 11 Carries, 55 Yards, 2 TDs, 13 Tackles, 3 PBUs, 1 INTrnEaston has been an impact player since his sophomore year when he helped Rice Lake make a State appearance. Now as a senior he led them back and this time they brought home the victory. On offense, Stone is a tone setter. Need the tough yards picked up? Need to move the pile to break the goal line? Need someone to remove LBs from running lanes? FB Easton Stone Easton Stone 6’3″ | 220 lbs | ATH Rice Lake | 2024 State WI excels at all those scenarios. On defense is where the senior shines most. Stone fits the MLB role perfectly. He has an elite frame with strength to match. He is a hard hitting tackler with the strength to shed OL off him. Easton also has the burst to fly through gaps untouched to blow things up in the backfield. In the final game, Easton also showed that he can be an impact in the passing game, making a diving INT while in zone coverage. Don’t sleep on one of northern WI’s best athletes.
Stats: 25 Carries, 85 Yards, 1 TD, 9 Tackles, 1 TFLrnAnother monster on both sides of the ball is recent Bemidji State commit, Koehler Kilty Koehler Kilty 6’1″ | 210 lbs | ATH Stratford | 2024 State WI . The senior’s aggressive, strong, imposing play style was needed in the defensive battle that was the D6 State Championship Game. On offense, Kilty grinded his way to three yards and a cloud of dust. He did that over and over and it started to wear on the defense as the game went on. The senior also stepped up at his most natural position, LB. Koehler was all over the front seven, shedding blocks, shooting gaps, and mirroring the RB until he met them at the line. Kilty was key in shutting down the explosive Darlington run game. His instincts to go along with the imposing physical traits make Kilty an intriguing next level prospect. Bemidji State has a good one on the way.
Highlights
Kylar Clemens
Kylar Clemens
Stats: 18 Carries, 146 Yards, 1 TD, 10 TacklesrnClemens was the perfect complement to Lane in the Lodi backfield. He is a senior with a balanced skill set. Clemens grinded out some tough yards between the tackles, picking up yards after contact and breaking tackles. Clemens also was able to break off a 74 yard TD run that not only showed the power and balance, but also the speed to pull away from the defense in the open field. Kylar was also key in the middle of the Lodi defense. He flew around the field with that speed and was a problem for OL to land blocks on. He has a nose for the ball, and was very good and getting ball carriers to the ground. Kylar delivered on the biggest stage to bring home the gold ball.
Aiden Humphreys
Aiden Humphreys
Stats: 16 Carries, 43 Yards, 1 TD, 1 Reception, 10 Yards, 12 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 FRrnA junior RB/LB that coaches are going to want to keep an eye on this offseason, and next summer is Aiden Humphreys. Aiden has a strong, big frame that perfectly fits either position he plays. The big frame fits his playing style well too. Humphreys thrives between the tackles where he can impose his will, break tackles, and wear down a defense. Looking through his season highlights, that hard running led to him eventually breaking off plenty of long runs. Aiden was also all over the field in the final game on defense. Aquinas ran a ton, and Aiden was in the middle of the defense chasing down the RB. He also recovered a fumble that gave Wrightstown a big lead early in the game. Keep an eye on him.
Stats: 11 Carries, 60 Yards, 1 TD, 6 Tackles, 1 PBUrnThe Wisconsin Badgers wrestling commit wrapped up his football career on a high note. Malin made big plays on both sides of the ball to help Aquinas secure the gold ball for the third year in a row. Malin truly did anything Aquinas needed. He set the edge as an OLB to stop the run. He was a lead blocker for the offense’s run game. The senior also got plenty of carries, putting one of the in the endzone. David clearly understands how to use leverage to his advantage to either win while blocking, carrying the ball, or tackling.
Gavin Leonhardt
Gavin Leonhardt
Stats: 5 Carries, 22 Yards, 2 Receptions, 23 Yards, 9 Tackles, 1 TFLrnOur final ATH standout is an intriguing, under the radar prospect. Stratford’s Gavin Leonhardt has great size and length at 6’3″ 200 lbs. He teamed up with Kilty to give the Tigers a dominant two punch in the backfield. He was used to stretch the field horizontally in the run game. His vision to find blocks and running lanes as they appeared made him so dangerous. The big athlete is also a reliable target, and could be an option as a TE at the next level, along with FB, or LB. On defense, Gavin was again next to Kilty and tracked the ball down all day long with his range, instincts, and strength to get off blocks. Get on him, and get a steal.
