#10 HOLLAND HALL (8-3) AT #4 PERKINS-TRYON (10-1)
#4 Perkins-Tryon is one win away from their first semifinal appearance since 2000. The Demons have been knocking on the door of the semifinals over the last five years but they get a chance to kick that door down this week at home against #10 Holland Hall. The last time these two teams met, the Dutch beat the Demons in the 2021 quarterfinals, on their way to a second straight state championship. After losing an overtime game to Marlow in week three, Perkins-Tryon has been lights out. They’ve won eight consecutive games by at least two touchdowns and hammered their first round opponent a week ago. But this week they face a scary Holland Hall team. The Dutch started the season 1-3 against a tough schedule but they have won seven straight and are playing some of their best football right now. They jumped out on Checotah early on last week and cruised to a win.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Cutter Greene Cutter Greene 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR Perkins-Tryon | 2024 State OK – 2024 Athlete – Perkins-Tryon
We’ve mentioned Perkins-Tryon’s star running back but the Demons aren’t 10-1 just relying on him. They have other playmakers on this team and senior Cutter Greene Cutter Greene 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR Perkins-Tryon | 2024 State OK is one of them. For us, Greene is one of the more underrated athletes in the state’s 2024 class. This kid is a freak athletically and then you throw some pads on him and he has the ability to make something special happen. Whether he’s at wide receiver or defensive back, Greene is a playmaker and will play at the next level.
Julius Wilson Julius Wilson 6'4" | 190 lbs | ATH Holland Hall | 2026 State OK – 2026 Wide Receiver – Holland Hall
We wrote about Holland Hall sophomore Julius Wilson Julius Wilson 6'4" | 190 lbs | ATH Holland Hall | 2026 State OK twice in the last week because of the impact he had in their first round win over Checotah. Wilson’s development on the football field is going to be an interesting thing to follow over the next few years. He’s a special talent and the ceiling for him as a football prospect is impressive. But he’s also a standout on the basketball floor and he has a rather high ceiling in hoops as well. He should have opportunities to play both sports at the next level.
#3 SULPHUR (8-3) AT #2 LINCOLN CHRISTIAN (11-0)
This has to be one of the best playoff games this week, regardless of class. You have #2 Lincoln Christian hosting #3 Sulphur in a semifinal or even championship-quality match-up. And we get it here in the quarterfinal round. #2 Lincoln Christian has simply been perfect this season. And the Bulldogs are such an intriguing team to watch because they have the perfect mix of experience with seniors who have started multiple years and then some sophomores and even freshmen that appear to have very bright futures. The Bulldogs can punch their ticket to the semifinal round for the sixth straight season with a win Friday. After a 2022 season that ended with Sulphur missing out on the playoffs, it was apparent even at the end of last year that this year’s Bulldog squad would bounce back in a major way. After an 0-2 start, Sulphur has looked lights out and rolled last week in the first round.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Brytan Gaddy Brytan Gaddy 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Sulphur | 2024 State OK – 2024 Athlete – Sulphur
Sulphur has quite a few playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. One of them is senior standout Brytan Gaddy Brytan Gaddy 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Sulphur | 2024 State OK and this prospect has been a player to watch over the last several seasons. Whether he’s lining up on offense as a wide receiver or even playing defense in the past, Gaddy has the ability to make some big plays. Gaddy is also a standout on the track and that speed certainly shows when he gets the football in the open field. Sulphur will need their playmakers against a talented Lincoln squad.
Luke Milligan Luke Milligan 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Lincoln Christian | 2024 State OK – 2024 Quarterback – Lincoln Christian
Lincoln Christian routinely has one of the top quarterbacks in the state and that’s the case once again with senior Luke Milligan Luke Milligan 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Lincoln Christian | 2024 State OK at QB1. The one thing that really stands out to us about Milligan this season is his efficiency. He rarely makes a mistake and when he does, he never makes the same one twice. Milligan is a calm, cool and collected presence in the Lincoln offense. And this is a Lincoln offense that is incredibly hungry to make it back to the semifinals yet again and then contend for a gold ball.
#8 BERRYHILL (7-3) AT #1 HERITAGE HALL (11-0)
Top-ranked Heritage Hall looks to continue their state title defense against the Chiefs. After winning it all last season, the Chargers are looking to finish off a perfect season this year. A win on Friday night would send Heritage Hall to the semifinals for the seventh consecutive year. They beat North Rock Creek in the first round last week. It was their seventh game this year where they scored at least 50. #8 Berryhill has been one of the more consistent teams in Class 3A over the last decade. But they are still looking for their first semifinal appearance since 2011. Despite being a playoff team every year, the Chiefs have come up short before they’ve reached the final four. This season, the Chiefs are playing some of their best football at the best time. They began the season with a 1-3 record and then flipped a switch after a blowout loss to Lincoln Christian. They come into this week having won six in a row.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Dalton Barrington Dalton Barrington RB Berryhill | 2024 State OK – 2024 Running Back – Berryhill
Keeping the Heritage Hall offense on the sideline is going to be a big key for Berryhill on Friday night. As the Chiefs look to pull the upset, we expect them to try and ground and pound the Chargers. Senior running back Dalton Barrington Dalton Barrington RB Berryhill | 2024 State OK just proved last week that he can handle that kind of workload. In their first round win, Barrington finished the game with 30 carries for over 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns. If he has that kind of performance again, look out for the Chiefs on Friday.
Jordyn Harris Jordyn Harris 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK – 2024 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back – Heritage Hall
On the other side of the match-up, you have a Heritage Hall offense that is incredibly explosive. Everyone knows about the star quarterback but fellow senior Jordyn Harris Jordyn Harris 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Heritage Hall | 2024 State OK is a playmaker on both sides of the ball. Harris had a monster game last week as a receiver and as a defensive back as they beat North Rock Creek. Harris is a player that we’ve seen make some big plays and as the competition ramps up, we expect him to take it to the next level. Look for him to be the top target offensively.
#6 MARLOW (8-3) AT #9 CASCIA HALL (8-3)
#6 Marlow is definitely on the shortlist of teams that we simply can’t figure out this season. The Outlaws were 7-0, had a big top-five win earlier in the season against Perkins-Tryon, and then lost three straight to close out the regular season. Despite coming into the playoffs with a three-game losing streak, the Outlaws went on the road to Tulsa and knocked off Metro Christian in the first round last week. What do they get for getting a massive road win? A return trip back to Tulsa to face #9 Cascia Hall. The Commandos are another 8-3 team coming into this match-up and because they beat Holland Hall all the way back in week four, that helped them capture the district championship. The Commandos are a fun team to watch and the future is bright with some of their best offensive players being freshmen or sophomores. Both teams are hungry to keep their seasons alive this week.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Barrett Mullen Barrett Mullen 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Cascia Hall | 2026 State OK – 2026 Quarterback – Cascia Hall
Before the season, Cascia Hall head coach Joe Medina said they were going to air it out more this season. That’s exactly what they’ve done and sophomore quarterback Barrett Mullen Barrett Mullen 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Cascia Hall | 2026 State OK has had a great start to his career. On Friday, Cascia Hall was one of our first round stops and we got to see Mullen in person for a few possessions. He was impressive in charge of the offense and moving the ball down the field. He was firing some darts as well and they’ll need that Friday against Marlow.
Cade Gilbert Cade Gilbert 5'10" | QB Marlow | 2024 State OK – 2024 Quarterback – Marlow
Marlow’s first round game with Metro Christian was one of our first round stops last week and senior quarterback Cade Gilbert Cade Gilbert 5'10" | QB Marlow | 2024 State OK had an instant impact. On their first possession of the game, Gilbert broke several tackles and got loose for a 79-yard touchdown run. That put Marlow up and they never trailed on Friday night, rolling to a 28-14 win. A few years ago, we saw Gilbert’s older brother Jace lead the Outlaws to the 2A state title. Cade is now looking to do the same thing this year with the 3A crown.
