It seems like every single ranking update we’ve done with the state’s 2024 class, River Warren River Warren 6’4″ | 195 lbs | QB Del City | 2024 State OK is at the top of the list when it comes to the quarterback position. Warren is once again in the top spot for the quarterbacks in our second to last ranking update and he shows no signs of giving up the crown. Warren has been lights out this season for Del City and he made plenty of headlines this offseason when he moved from Bishop McGuinness to Del City. With the Eagles, he’s leading a high-scoring offense that is full of playmakers. Because he has some absolute playmakers at the wide receiver position, Warren has put up some monster numbers this fall. The thing that impresses us the most about his abilities this season is his efficiency. Warren is completing well over 70 percent of his passes.
We’re curious if there will ever be a year that Lincoln Christian does not have one of the top quarterbacks in the state. We won’t see it this year as senior Luke Milligan Luke Milligan 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB Lincoln Christian | 2024 State OK continues to not only be one of the top quarterbacks in the state, but one of the best players. He is leading a Lincoln Christian offense that has been one of the best in the state and that goes back to last season as well. He replaced Max Brown, who is now at Florida and he made the transition look easy. Milligan threw three interceptions in the first two weeks of the season and has been perfect ever since. He’s incredibly efficient with the football and he and the Bulldogs look to contend once again for the state championship. There are plenty of former Lincoln QBs who end up at the next level and Milligan is the next one up.
Highlights
So it’s good news bad news here with Chandler quarterback Alec Jackson Alec Jackson 6’3″ | 200 lbs | QB Chandler | 2024 State OK as we get closer to the playoffs. First, the good news. Jackson is once again one of the top quarterback prospects in the state’s 2024 class and he should get a few opportunities to play at the next level. Unfortunately, his senior season came to an end just a few weeks ago when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in their biggest game of the year against Jones. Jackson and the Lions were going to be tough to beat in the Class 2A playoffs, which is always one of our favorite brackets. But despite the injury and the sad end to his season, Jackson is still one of the top prospects at the position. He is an outstanding athlete and has proven that time after time. We think that he’ll be able to come back stronger than ever.
Jones is in a similar situation to Lincoln Christian where they just produce quarterback after quarterback and routinely have one of the best quarterbacks in the state. This year is no different with senior standout Clayton Creasey Clayton Creasey 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Jones | 2024 State OK and he’s in his second year as QB1 of the Longhorns. Last year, he enjoyed a breakout season with Jones as he replaced another star quarterback in Carson May. This season, he really impressed us earlier in the season when we saw him in person against that 3A powerhouse Lincoln Christian. Creasey put up strong numbers as a passer and as a runner and that has been exactly what we’ve seen from him last season and this fall, both on film and in the stat line. Before that showdown with Lincoln Christian, Creasey announced his commitment to UCO.
Rounding out the top five is Sapulpa quarterback Colton Howard Colton Howard 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Sapulpa | 2024 State OK and he’s continued all the momentum that he started last season. Howard moved to Sapulpa from Coweta and turned into one of the better quarterbacks in the state’s 2024 class. Whether it was his abilities with the Chieftains or seeing him in person countless of times in various 7v7 tournaments or at our camp back in the spring, Howard has always found a way to shine. Howard has put up some strong numbers this season the Chieftains are going to be a team to look out for when the playoffs begin. They’ve started picking up momentum in the second half of the season and are playing some of their best football right now. Earlier this season, Howard announced his commitment to play college ball at Emporia State.
