St. Joseph's Prep and Archbishop Spalding competed on Spalding's homecoming night this past Friday, and the Hawks were victorious in a dominant effort 24-6. [player_tooltip player_id='164520' first='Samaj' last='Jones'] and the STJP squad ran the ball very effectively, and they extended their record to an exceptional 7-1 overall. Let's now analyze and breakdown the top performances from last Friday's homecoming game.

2024 6'0 200 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='164520' first='Samaj' last='Jones'] - St. Joseph's Prep - Cincinnati

[player_tooltip player_id='164520' first='Samaj' last='Jones'] dominated the ground game versus Spalding, and he was also extremely efficient on third down. Jones scored the first touchdown of the day for the Cavaliers on a goal line run, and, with the help of his stellar offensive line, he did so with ease. The future Cincinnati Bearcat quarterback has his squad in a great position right now in the national rankings, currently ranked #10, and the Hawks also remain unbeaten in their conference with a 3-0 record. [player_tooltip player_id='164520' first='Samaj' last='Jones'] clearly possesses all of the skills necessary to become the next great dual-threat Bearcat QB, and that's why I believe that he will thrive at Cincinnati. St. Joseph's Prep has a strong chance to win the state title this year with Jones under center, and they even have a chance at the national title with the dominant performances that they've put forth so far in conference play!

Highlights: https://t.co/9ghui8IWIJ

2025 6'0 215 RB - [player_tooltip player_id='386033' first='Isaiah' last='West'] - St. Joseph's Prep

The Player of the Game in this contest was most definitely Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='386033' first='Isaiah' last='West'] of St. Joseph's Prep. West ran for multiple touchdown scores against a very solid Archbishop Spalding defense, and he tallied a bunch of rushing yards for his Hawks team. He took great care of the football in this game, as he ended the day with zero turnovers, and he also earned a lot of his yards after contact. [player_tooltip player_id='386033' first='Isaiah' last='West'] and [player_tooltip player_id='164520' first='Samaj' last='Jones'] in the backfield together is an incredibly dominant duo to have at this level, and my prediction is that opposing defenses continue to struggle with containing SJP's dynamic rush attack. The 3 star recruit recently visited the University of Nebraska, and, with his size, strength, and speed, there's no doubt in my mind that [player_tooltip player_id='386033' first='Isaiah' last='West'] will thrive at the next level- wherever he decides to attend.

Highlights: https://x.com/IsaiahWest_12/status/1710827187870294282?s=20

2024 5'11 175 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='98507' first='Omillio' last='Agard'] - St. Joseph's Prep - Wisconsin

Between both teams combined, nobody played better defense than [player_tooltip player_id='98507' first='Omillio' last='Agard'] on Friday night. Agard impacted the game absolutely everywhere on the field, and his effort was of tremendous value to his team's success. He consistently disrupted the Spalding passing game which made it very difficult for the opposing quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='272253' first='Malik' last='Washington'], to find a rhythm. The Wisconsin defensive unit will be tremendously improved overall with [player_tooltip player_id='98507' first='Omillio' last='Agard'] on their roster, and I am positive that he will do great things for the Badgers during his time in Madison, WI. He's a tremendous all-around player!

Highlights: https://x.com/OmillioA/status/1716988411234374033?s=20

2025 6'5 315 OL - [player_tooltip player_id='264264' first='Christian' last='Leonard'] - St. Joseph's Prep

[player_tooltip player_id='264264' first='Christian' last='Leonard'] and the mighty St. Joseph's Prep offensive line took control of this game over the weekend, and they rendered the Spalding defense completely useless. Leonard and his fellow linemen dictated the line of scrimmage with force, and this allowed their ball carriers to punch through the open gaps with speed and rack-up tons of rushing yards. Chrstian Leonard played particularly well this week, and he deserves a lot of credit for this victory along with the rest of the O-line. Leonard currently has a lot of interest from WVU and other elite power five conference programs. He's a top tier offensive line prospect with huge potential from the 2025 class!

Highlights: https://t.co/qMKTb60bJy

2025 6'4 190 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='272253' first='Malik' last='Washington'] - Spalding

While [player_tooltip player_id='272253' first='Malik' last='Washington'] didn't play quite as well as he would've liked, I still believe that there are a lot of positives that we can take away from his performance against St. Joseph's Prep. Washington completed 20/37 passes for 155 yards, and he also added 2 carries for 65 yards and a TD in the ground game. It was most certainly the two turnovers that hurt the team the most, however, overall he still made plays in both the running and passing games which gave the Cavaliers a chance to win. [player_tooltip player_id='272253' first='Malik' last='Washington'] remains one of the most highly sought after recruits in the entire DMV area, and he will look to have a bounce-back performance this weekend in a very important MIAA conference game away versus Loyola Blakefield. It's essential that local scouts tune-in to this one, because [player_tooltip player_id='272253' first='Malik' last='Washington'] is in a great position to have a big game!

Highlights: https://t.co/uDz42ETP42
