Offensive Player of the Week
The Crusaders have been one of the biggest surprises this year and a big reason for that is the play of Shields. Last week in their 58-31 win over Fayette Academy, Shields torched the Vikings defense for 248 yards on the ground as well as six rushing touchdowns. His play alone was a major reason in the team’s victory and another performance for Shields that pushes him closer towards becoming Mr. Football for the D2-Class A ranks. Games like this can boost your recruiting stock to another level. Shields has the skill set and athleticism to find a place within the college game, especially if he continues to finish the year strong with performances like this. Game Stats: 17 carr. for 248 yds & 6 TD’s (3 rec. 50 yds)

Defensive Player of the Week
It was a tough call between Hazzard and his junior teammate (mentioned below) for this top honor but we had to go with the Patriots edge rusher as he was unblockable in the team’s 24-12 region win over Centennial. Hazzard could not be stopped as he used his quick get-off, active hands and closing speed to chase down the quarterback to either sack him or move him off his spot. The Pats junior defender also produced some physical hits on the night, making his presence felt where he basically took over the 1st half. Performances like this one has Hazzard in the mix for Class 5A Mr. Football this year as well as PRZTN defensive player of the year but can also continue to boost his recruiting stock further as one of the best at his position for the #TN2025 class. Game Stats: 8 tcks, 4 TFL, 3 QBH & 2.5 sacks
