The Sailors ran into a heck of a team Friday night in Grand Rapids Catholic Central, but there were still a ton of bright spots, and they showed they are ready to go on another playoff rum. In this piece, we're going to highlight a few of the straws that were stirring the drink for South Christian in week 8.

[player_tooltip player_id='1290463' first='Carson' last='Vis'], QB- I was fairly surprised how much SC decided to throw the ball with the way the elements were, but I quickly figured it out as you could see the trust the SC playcallers had in Carson. He was pretty on the money, and a lot of his incomplete passes were just straight up dropped. He did a significant amount of damage in the air, but his mobility was on full display as well. He had a lot of plays where he had to escape the pocket and get up field and he did quite well, even getting in the end zone. I really like what Carson can do and at 6'4 185 I think he has the body type to be successful as well.

Mitchell Lindhout, DL- I was really impressed with Mitchell. Another guy with pretty good size, and a quick first step and some pretty difficult moves to combat. He showed some strong hands, and was winning a lot of 1 on 1 reps. He was getting good push up front, and was forcing GRCC to put more emphasis on getting him blocked up, sometimes with more than 1 lineman. I like what he can do, and he's definitely a guy that looks to have another gear in him for someone at the next level to unlock. I hope at least some D3 schools do their homework on this kid.

[player_tooltip player_id='610770' first='Jake' last='Vermaas'], WR- One of the most familiar names on the west side of the state, Jake returns as one of the key contributors from last year. He had another good game despite conditions not being ideal for slinging the ball around. He was the most sure handed receiver on the field, and was still cutting his routes off nice and clean. He ran really solid routes and made the DBs really have to cover the whole field because Jake was all over. I also liked seeing him get involved with the run game on some sweeps which he was extremely efficient with. This is my 3rd time seeing him play over the last few years and I have not walked away disappointed any of those times. This guy is elite.

Jackson Haik, RB- Running the ball, Jackson looked very good, natural and showed some solid athletic ability. I think my favorite thing I saw from him though, was that he was clearly the guy that does a lot of the dirty work. On QB runs and sweeps, he was the first one turning the corner and hunting for someone to block. In the passing game, he was willing and able to step up and make big blocks to keep Vis clean in the pocket. I really like what he can do as a quick back with a good burst, but I also love the grit he showed with being able to step up and do the things that don't go on the stat sheet!
