A lot of people clamor for who they think is the “most underrated” but I would Carson may be the correct answer here. From the QB position, Carson orchestrates and runs the South Christian offense to perfection and has the crazy instincts and impressive skills to be a menace to defenses. Turn on the tape of the state finals game from last season, you’ll see Carson extending plays 5-10 seconds, running 50+ yards side to side, and either tucking the ball or throwing a dot to a receiver deep down field. He does things you just can’t teach, and it’s hard to even evaluate because everything he does is so off schedule and instinctual. Purely based on talent, individual effort and instincts, Carson absolutely had to make this list!

Carson might be the most under-appreciated athlete in all of Michigan. Although I don’t think he projects very well as a college quarterback, Carson is one of the best High School QBs I’ve ever seen. His play last season allowed South Christian to compete for a State Championship. Speaking of the State Championship, Carson totaled 441 yards passing, 80 rushing yards, and 3 total touchdowns. He did all of that despite facing once of the most talented defenses in the state, and while he was under constant pressure.
Carson is a rare athlete who’s able to play at 100% throughout all four quarters. Last season, I never saw Carson slow down, and he always seemed locked-in. This season, I expect Carson to continue being a phenomenal playmaker and I expect him to lead South Christian to yet another deep playoff run.

If the rankings were based off of High School performance alone, Carson might be a top-30 player. He plays Quarterback at South Christian, but doesn’t project as a pro-style passer in college. Instead, Carson is elite in the run game and with off-schedule playmaking. I watched as Carson ran around and made plays for his team during the State Championship. When needed, Carson was able to make a big throw. Also when needed, Carson put his body on the line to pick up huge first downs. He isn’t a prototypical QB, so that’s why he isn’t getting recutting attention and why he isn’t ranked higher. Carson is legitimately one of the most valuable players in all of West Michigan, and I know he’ll have another great season doing what he does.
