What a way to end the regular season. Although Coon Rapids and Farmington struggled during the regular season, a win in game number eight would be just what the doctor ordered going into the postseason. Tied at 27 at the end of regulation, Farmington's Jeffery Branson – blowing through an attempted tackle at the five-yard-line, rumbled 10 yards into the end zone on the first play of overtime. The extra point gave the Tigers a seven-point lead.

"We just gave the ball to Jeff because he had been running the ball hard all night," Farmington quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='234773' first='Jonah' last='Ask'] said. "He has been running the ball hard; it is fun to watch. That run was epic. It got everyone fired up."

Coon Rapids would score a touchdown three plays later and then decided to go for a two-point conversion and the win.

The play the Cardinals called looked perfect. They had a running back wide open in the flat, but Farmington's Kingsley Obikwelu came off his man and – well - let me let him tell you.

"It was cover four, but it was basically cover two because I didn't have safety help," Obikwelu said. "I was playing outside the receiver. He stopped, and I thought he was going to run a stop-and-go, but I saw the back coming out of the backfield. I broke on that and punched the ball out."

The stop secured a come-from-behind 34-33 victory.

Both teams came out firing on offense. The Tigers used a great ground game to move the ball right down the field. Branson was picking up big chunks of yardage. Wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='234770' first='Brock' last='Wyandt'] found the corner behind blocks by Lars Anderson and Isaac Henry for an easy ten-yard touchdown run.

Coon Rapids star receiver [player_tooltip player_id='438689' first='KhiJohnn' last='Cummings-Coleman'] caught a deep ball down the middle of the field, putting the Cardinals in the red zone after one play. A few plays later, [player_tooltip player_id='490197' first='Danny' last='Scheller'] scored from a yard out.

Both offenses would move the ball the rest of the quarter, but the defenses made big plays when needed. After forcing a punt, Coon Rapids moved into Farmington territory, but on fourth and short, Farmington linebacker Tyler Carlson stuffed an inside run short of the sticks – stopping the drive.

The Tigers would move the ball deep into Cardinals' territory, but a holding penalty put the Tigers behind the chains. They could not convert on fourth down, giving the ball back to the Tigers.

With two minutes to play in the half, Coon Rapids' offense started rolling. Loften O'Groske ran a skinny post, and quarterback Jacob Mattick put it right on him for a big gain. On third and twenty, O'Groske tapped his tows on the sidelines for a twenty-two-yard catch to keep the drive alive. The senior would make about as good a catch as you will see in the back of the end zone to cap off the drive. He got a foot down with under a minute to play in the half.

Trailing 14-6, Farmington faced a third and seventeen early in the second half. The Tigers called a quarterback draw, and it was like the Red Sea parted, and Ask sprinted – basically untouched – sixty-one yards into the end zone.

Coon Rapids would use a nice mix of short passes and a running game to answer right back. Mattick would finish the drive with a fifteen-yard touchdown run.

Farmington would answer immediately. Trevor Jones' kickoff return gave the Tigers the ball at midfield, and the offense would go into their bag of tricks. Wyandt took a pitch, pulled up, and threw deep to Trevor Rasmusson. Rasmusson would be knocked down just short of the goal line. Branson would score one play later to cut the Coon Rapids lead to two points.

The Cardinals would widen the lead in a wild second half. Off a perfect pass from Mattick, Cummings-Coleman made a tough over-the-shoulder catch – while tapping his toes just inbounds – for a twenty-nine-yard touchdown. Coon Rapids would miss a critical extra point – keeping the score at 27-19 – still a one-score game.

Farmington would convert on a fourth and short with six minutes to go to keep their must-convert drive alive. Behind the chains on third and ten a few plays later, Ask threw deep and found Wyandt down the middle of the field for a forty-one-yard touchdown.

"We started passing the ball more and got the deep ball going," Ask said. "Wyant had a heck of a run. We just executed. We did what we work on and did what we should have done."

Still down by two points, Farmington needed the two points for the tie. Ask took care of business himself on the two-point conversion – setting up the dramatic overtime period.
