Castillo continues to establish himself as one of the most explosive WR threats in San Diego after leading the section in receiving yards (1,300) and TDs (23) as a junior. He’s a dangerous vertical threat that can get in behind the secondary and take advantage of space after the catch. He offers positional versatility with 3 INTs (2 pick-six) from his CB spot. Castillo picked up offers from Northern Colorado, Columbia, and Benedictine College during the offseason.
Cody Bigley
Cody Bigley
Bigley leads all San Diego WRs in catches (38), yards (730), and TDs (10) through five games. He’s a lengthy, finesse pass-catcher that excels at winning 1v1 matchups on the perimeter with a combination of ball-tracking, body control, and natural hands at the catch point. He’s particularly effective over the middle of the field and can attack the soft spots against zone. Bigley’s scored a TD in every game and posted 100+ receiving yards in four of Grossmont’s five games so far.
Joshua Dixon
Joshua Dixon
Dixon has shown natural skills and athleticism as one of the most productive WRs in San Diego (19 catches, 539 yards, 6 TDs). He’s a smooth perimeter threat that can challenge secondaries over-the-top and produce explosive plays with the ball in his hands after the catch. He can expose the soft spots over the middle on in-breaking routes and shows awareness working to space in scramble situations. Dixon posted 5 catches for 200+ yards and 2 TDs in City’s first game of the season.
Garcia has continued to prove to be a dynamic playmaker in all three phases during his first season with La Costa Canyon after transferring from Central. He’s a well-rounded football player that displays natural speed, athletic instincts, and physical edge wherever he lines up. He offers big-play ability with the ball in his hands as a WR/Return Specialist, makes violent hits as a tackler, and can produce turnovers in coverage. Garcia’s making a case as one of the most underrated all-around football players in San Diego this season.
Elijah Gillespie
Elijah Gillespie
Gillespie has scored a TD in five of Chula Vista’s six games during the team’s 4-2 start, with a total of 530 yards and 8 TDs on 24 catches. He’s a nimble, quick-footed receiver with notable stop-start agility and flashes strong hands making contested catches on the outside. He’s slippery in space, can accelerate with burst after the catch, and is a high-effort blocker on the outside. Gillespie’s top performance came in a week 0 win over La Jolla Country Day (6 catches, 160 yards, 2 TDs).
