Stat Line: 14/19 passing, 297 passing yards, four touchdowns
Although he is not the biggest quarterback from this bunch of South Dakota Big Dogs, Derek certainly plays with elusive instinct when he leaves the pocket or needs to throw from the run as I like the balance he plays with inside or outside of the pocket. Derek also has solid poise for a 2026 prospect as we have seen with his clips that this kid does not get flustered even when high motored pressure comes his way. It was a week for the 2026 class from the Rustlers, as Derek will be one of two Miler-Highmore Harrold prospects on our list this week. No Twitter
Stat Line: 28 carries, 152 rushing yards, three touchdowns.
The downhill durability skillset is something we have seen shine on in this 2023 season for Watertown’s Juven Hudson Juven Hudson ATH Watertown | 2024 State SD , as he showed against Yankton how he has grown running thru the tackles, as a running back with some of biggest jets in the state of South Dakota that just needs to develop more with his contact running, which has improved in 2023 as he’s accumulated bigger gains. Juven showed against Yankton, how much vision he can have when he’s able to run in space in the open field, as those are the gaps that will be more fluidly open for Juven at the next-level. Expect this kid’s recruitment heat up a bit in the coming weeks. Twitter
Stat Line: 25 carries, 352 rushing yards, four touchdowns.
Erik is a running back you have heard about already this fall on our South Dakota Big Dogs of the Week, well after his performance last week he gets his his second nod of the 2023 season as he rallied for a mega stat line against Waverly-South Shore. The most impressive play is the first one you see on tape as Erik extends majorly for a receiving touchdown that showed off how much stretch he has in his body as he extended heavily for that touchdown. Erik might have shown this week he is one of South Dakota’s most durable backs thru contact, as ALL college coaches need to watch his second run on tape this week as Erik showed how much of workhorse he is that went for 350+ yards last week for the 9B state champs along with four touchdowns. Stat Line: 102 yard pick six interception. Two total touchdowns (one receiving, one defense)
I had the chance to watch CJ’s 102-yard pick six just today, and not only was the run back impressive but I was more impressed with his young man’s press pass coverage ability. He showed off that he can press in short routes, and still have the athleticism to stick like glue to the wide receivers with excellent vision and poise throughout the route. He also showed off a catchy vertical that should be eye-opening over the next several weeks for the Tigers. This kid places with plenty of fluidity with his footwork and mobility as a defensive back that can get from sideline to sideline as a 2024 sleeper that looks to have the talent to play on Saturdays. Stat Line: 6 receptions, 137 receiving yards, two touchdowns.
The length that Isaak shows off on tape I can already tell is going to be a problem for secondaries to cover over the next several years, as his long strides also show off plenty of length in his lower body. Not only is that lower body long, but so is Isaak’s upper body as on one clip I saw on tape, Isaak showed off the basketball body to bring in a very tough catch in the back of the end zone that showed off his range almost like a hooper boxing out a defender in the paint. He has some very smooth hands for his age, and I always love the eagerness of a young wide receiver that throws their paw up in the air to show off their quarterback they are ready for it. This kid will certainly be added to our South Dakota 2026 rankings, now that we have his football film. He also has a great football pedigree as the little brother of Indiana-Pennsylvania quarterback Karst Hunter who was offensive freshmen of the year in the RMAC at Colorado Mesa last season. Twitter
