It takes opponents even longer to catch up to him when he releases off the ball, and if you get there, you’re probably getting head topped. Gavin is the #1 target for Colquitt County Quarterback Cohen Lawson Cohen Lawson 6’0″ | 180 lbs | ATH Colquitt County | 2028 GA who is already turning heads as well. You can tell he takes pride in perfecting his craft and I always catch myself with my mouth open, the way he pulls the ball out of the air when you think it’s a jump ball. No, it’s Gavin’s ball or nothing. He is definitely not vertically challenged and he is seasoned with making big plays based off adjusting to the ball in the air like a vet. His body positioning and understanding how to create separation is a gift. I expect him to have a big year this fall.
When Kingston Jones Kingston Jones 5’10” | 145 lbs | WR Pope | 2028 GA isn’t playing baseball, you can find him on the football field wrecking shop. He is a scrappy 5’10 135 pound receiver with good field vision. Kingston can get the ball in a plethora of ways due to being one of the main targets on his team. He’s also very affective in the return game. This season alone he has already reached pay dirt returning a punt. Everyone knows you have to be tough in this phase. I like his all around game and even though he rocks #11, he’s the one.
Highlights
When your 6’2 playing receiver is a lot more fun. Cameron Hurst Cameron Hurst 6’2″ | 165 lbs | WR Grayson | 2028 GA reminds me of a young Dez Bryant (former Dallas Cowboys WR) with his build, physicality, and fight for yards after the catch. He is not just a possession receiver. Put the ball up and he will come down with it and get you more. His speed is tricky because of how long he is, but Hurst rarely gets caught because it takes two to three steps for his one. I also like how he concentrates on the nose of the ball securing the catch with all hands. Next to his hoop dreams, this kid has a future playing wide out.
5’10 140 pound sure handed wideout Colin Luke Colin Luke 5’10” | 140 lbs | WR Gainesville | 2028 GA , from Gainesville Middle School has big playmaking ability. When studying his body of work, you see various route combinations. This will only elevate his game faster. Fade routes and posts are a young receivers dream to show off hands, but Colin seems comfortable running crossing routes, or being in sync with his quarterback to take a slant the distance. He has soft hands paired with long arms to reel in the pigskin with ease. Georgia is known to produce depth at this position and I see this prospect being mixed in the group of next ballers.
One thing for sure, two things for certain, Kameron Barnes Kameron Barnes 6’1″ | 150 lbs | WR GA does not have an identity crisis, he knows exactly who he is. My job is to catch everyone else up to how the 6’1, 160 lbs. receiver stays open. The Lawrenceville Black Knights are a good team bookmarked by Barnes on the outside when they got the ball. On the coin flip, it’s most likely Barnes is one of the tallest players at the skill positions and this is not a secret to his quarterback. He is a solid route runner and is the go to guy under pressure. With the ball in his hands tack on plus two, because he knows how to take care of the football and stretch forward for more yards.
