We're just over a week away from the start of the high school season and we thought we would take a look at 15 players that will give defenses headaches.

[player_tooltip player_id='340394' first='Troy' last='Stevenson'] ATH, Philip Simmons – Stevenson is a two-way standout. He had 19 receptions for 443 yards and six scores and added 22 tackles, two interceptions and eight pass breakups on defense. The Georgia Tech commitment could see additional time on offense this season with his 4.4 speed being an issue for opposing defenses.

[player_tooltip player_id='448987' first='Wushi' last='Ravenel'] WR, James Island – Ravenel is our No. 1 wide receiver in the 2024 Class for a reason. He has big-play ability shown by the fact he averaged 23 yards per catch last season. He ended the year with 51 receptions for 1,262 yards and 14 scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='302853' first='Bryce' last='Rothwell'] TE, Lucy Beckham – Rothwell is a strong pass-catcher downfield, but he also doesn't mind mixing it up at the line of scrimmage. He's 6-foot-4, 245 pounds and that creates match-up problems for the defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='91350' first='Davian' last='Brown'] RB, Fort Dorchester – Brown led the Charleston area with 1,560 yards last season. He's compact at 5-foot-7, 195 pounds so that makes it hard for defenders to get a good shot at him. With the Patriots breaking in a new quarterback, he could see his numbers increase. He has over 3,300 rushing yards in his career.

[player_tooltip player_id='91352' first='Kevon' last='Rivera'] RB, Hanahan – The 5-foot-9, 215-pound Rivera will be a four-year starter for the Hawks. He rushed for 1,172 yards last season and is nearing 3,000 yards for his career. He averaged over six yards a carry for the run-happy offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='91365' first='Braxton' last='Scott'] QB, James Island – Scott suffered an injury early last season, and his numbers took a hit. The 6-foot, 170 pounder is healthy and poised to rebound as a senior. He has plenty of options at wide receiver and running back.

[player_tooltip player_id='771065' first='Yannick' last='Smith'] WR, Summerville – Smith recently committed to East Carolina and the Pirates might have gotten a steal from the Palmetto state. The 6-foot-3 senior is a standout in basketball as well and he uses that leaping ability on the football field. He finished with 1,448 all-purpose yards that included 704 yards on 50 receptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='589052' first='Derrick' last='Salley'] WR, Ashley Ridge – Salley is 6-foot-4. 200 pounds and plays that way. The Swamp Foxes have a new coach in Jeff Tate and that should benefit Salley in a pass happy attack. He had 31 catches for 460 yards in a run-first offense a season ago.

[player_tooltip player_id='239076' first='Zion' last='Dobson'] ATH, Wade Hampton – Another two-way player to make this list, Dobson ran for 1,065 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022. He also played defensive back, returned kicks and was a threat in the passing attack as well. The Red Devils will again feature him in a variety of ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='589013' first='Trae' last='Green'] RB, Summerville – Green will be part of a formidable 1-2 punch for the Green Wave. He should be the No. 1 back after rushing for 855 yards and 10 touchdowns as the No. 2 guy a season ago. Summerville is ultra-talented on offense with weapons at all the skill positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='372771' first='TJ' last='Wright'] RB, Woodland – Wright was a two-year starter with the Cobras before transferring to Woodland. He has over 1,200 career rushing yards and should flourish running behind the talented offensive line at Woodland.

[player_tooltip player_id='340393' first='Harold' last='Gathers'] QB, Baptist Hill – Gathers (pictured) has been a starter since his freshman season. He amassed over 3,900 yards passing and 46 touchdowns in that time. He missed some time last year and must replace his top receivers, but he's poised for a huge senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='448997' first='Davion' last='Malloy'] WR, Goose Creek - The Gators senior caught 60 passes last season as the No. 2 receiving option. He will be the top guy this season, but Goose Creek will have a new starting quarterback. Mallory has an Army offer among others.

[player_tooltip player_id='997210' first='Maurice' last='Brown'] QB, Ridgeland – Brown is a handful both in the passing game and as a runner. Want proof? He threw for 1,500 yards and 11 scores and added 971 yards rushing last year. He should continue those strong numbers this season with an improved Ridgeland team.

Mul-Ty Snider WR, Fort Dorchester – Snider is on the small side, but he can get open deep. He runs past defenders and has good hands with any ball that comes near him. The Patriots will have a new coaching staff and a new starting quarterback, but Snider gives them a huge advantage in the passing game.
