There’s been no stopping Derrick Salley at wide receiver these last few weeks, and now he’s on his way to showcasing his skills against the state’s best. A monster on the outside at 6-foot-4, Salley has dominated his matchups to the tune of 83 receptions, 1,572 yards, and 17 touchdowns through just eight games. His high catch radius and crisp route running has made him a menacing challenge to cover, and he’s got rare explosiveness when he gets the ball outside on a screen to make defenders miss. He’s become the complete package of a dynamic wide receiver and should be fun to watch at the beach in December.

In a key matchup in Region VII-5A, Derrick Salley was no match for West Ashley’s strong defense on Friday night. The Ashley Ridge wideout made a strong statement once again, going for four touchdowns in a 31-20 victory. His exceptional route running and athleticism were on display again, dominating his one-on-one matchups all night. With a terrific catch radius and reach at 6-foot-4, Salley is elusive and can make defenders miss on his way to explosive gains. He’s becoming an all-around star out wide for an Ashley Ridge team looking to surprise in the postseason this fall.

went above and beyond to power Ashley Ridge’s offense to a standout performance. The athletic senior has tremendous instincts and can make quick adjustments to his routes to get open. He put it all on display on Friday with 13 receptions for 229 yards and a touchdown. His quick feet and elusiveness help him rack up yards after the catch and he can excel against opposing corners with his height and catch radius. Salley is becoming the go-to weapon for a confident and efficient Ashley Ridge attack ready to make some noise in Region VII-5A.
