The quarterbacks are a group of guys that can sling it all over the field with ease. They put up some eye-popping numbers and should only continue to increase. The wide receiver group proved they belonged on the big stage of Friday night. And the athletes listed did a little bit of everything.
Here are the names to know for the 2027 Class.
THE QUARTERBACKS
Henry Rivers Henry Rivers 5'11" | 160 lbs | QB Berkeley | 2027 State SC QB, Berkeley – First-year Stags coach Eric Lodge had no issues handing the keys to his offense off to the 5-foot-11, 160-pound freshman. Rivers dazzled in in his first varsity season, throwing for 2,302 yards and 25 touchdowns and he also was the team’s leading rusher with 557 yards and another eight touchdowns. The talent is there but so are the intangibles. Despite his youth, Rivers is unflappable and no matter the outcome of a play, he lines up ready for the next one. Rivers could end up being one of the more decorated QB’s from the lowcountry before its all said and done.
Aiden Manavian Aiden Manavian 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Oceanside Collegiate | 2027 State SC QB, Oceanside Collegiate – You want to talk about making a splash. Just look at what Manavian did in his debut season. The 5-foor-11, 175-pounder played very little during the regular season but ran the show as the Landsharks captured the Class 2A state championship. Despite being sacked 10 times in the finals against Gray Collegiate, Manavian showed toughness and grit in throwing for 367 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-28 victory. Coach Chad Wilkes loves the moxie of Manavian and never questioned the decision in playing him during the playoff run.
Tre Howard Tre Howard 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Ridge View | 2027 State SC QB, Ridge View – Howard played a backup role for the Blazers this past season but still saw action in all 11 games. Senior Breylon Boyd Breylon Boyd 6'0" | 205 lbs | QB Ridge View | 2024 State SC was the starter, but Howard would get a few series each game. The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder threw for 1,103 yards and 10 touchdowns. Howard is a coach’s son and that is evident in his decision-making. He will be the guy the guy the next three seasons for Ridge View, and he could end up as one of the better QB prospects the Midlands area has seen. Add in the fact his WR corps is loaded, Howard could have eye-popping numbers.
Grayson Clary Grayson Clary 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Daniel | 2027 State SC QB, Daniel –Clary is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound Pro Style QB that shows off a big arm and is very accurate throwing the deep ball. He’s going into a system at Daniel that will highlight his skills and put him in position over the next three years to possibly be the top ranked QB in this class. He’s better suited to sit in the pocket to find the open receiver, but he can tuck it and run is necessary.
THE RECEIVERS
Amare Patterson Amare Patterson 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Beaufort | 2027 State SC WR, Beaufort – Playing in mainly a run-based attack, Patterson still showed flashes of explosiveness. He’s 5-foor-11, 165 pounds and can fly. He averaged over 20 yards per reception and finished the season with 14 catches for 282 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles should throw it more next season and Patterson would be a great place to start.
Khristian Jackson Khristian Jackson 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Ridge View | 2027 State SC WR, Ridge View – The Blazers are blessed with a wealth of young talent at wide receiver and Jackson is in line to be another great one. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder was behind a couple of stud sophomores but one of those has transferred out. Jackson only played in six games but had nine catches for 194 yards and three touchdowns. With Howard (see above) running the show, Ridge View will be a team that is likely throw-first in the coming years.
Kyson McLeod Kyson McLeod 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR South Aiken | 2027 State SC WR, South Aiken – McLeod is another big-play receiver that should see his numbers increase. Two of the top three receivers for the Thoroughbreds were seniors and someone has to replace that production. The 5-foot-11 165-pounder is a basketball player as well and he uses that leverage and ball attacking skill on the football field as well.
Jagger Spivey Jagger Spivey 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Ashley Ridge | 2027 State SC WR, Ashley Ridge – If nothing else, the 5-foot-10, 155-pound Spivey belongs on the all-name team. The Swamp Foxes had a 2,000-yard receiver last year in Derrick Salley Derrick Salley 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Ashley Ridge | 2024 State SC and Spivey is inline to replace a lot of that production. Quarterback Trevor Kalisz Trevor Kalisz 5'10" | 205 lbs | QB Ashley Ridge | 2026 State SC returns after throwing for nearly 3,000 yards last season. Spivey finished with 22 catches for 281 yards and two scores. He runs good routes and isn’t afraid of contact despite his smaller frame.
Kanye Reed Kanye Reed 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Blythewood | 2027 State SC WR, Blythewood – Reed is on the bigger side at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds and isn’t afraid to run across the middle. He’s a solid route-runner that isn’t afraid to catch balls in traffic. Reed is strong and that shows in his ability to block on the perimeter as well.
ATHLETES
Sequel Patterson Sequel Patterson 6'1" | 170 lbs | ATH Indian Land | 2027 State SC ATH, Indian Land – What didn’t the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder do as a freshman? Heran a ton of Wildcat last season and accounted for touchdowns rushing, throwing, and receiving. The long-term plan is to use him at quarterback, but he is electric with the ball in his hands. He can make guys miss and if he gets a step on you, forget about it. He’s going to take it to the house.
Klyn Gordon Klyn Gordon 6'0" | 160 lbs | ATH Baptist Hill | 2027 State SC ATH, Baptist Hill – Is hard to decide if Gordon is a wide receiver or defensive back but he could continue to be both over the next three seasons. He hauled in 20 receptions for 329 yards and five touchdowns and added 64 tackles and four interceptions on defense.
