DB/SB | Drew Heppner | Rochester Adams | Hudl
Heppner is going to play a major role in in three phases of the game this year. As a slotback, Drew is fast enough to outrun most defenders and has uncanny balance that allows him to gain tons of extra yards. In the Veer offense, Hepper is going to be asked to do a lot of outside runs and he’s going to have opportunities to hit the home run. Defensively, he’s a solid safety with a good backpedal while he keeps his eyes in the backfield. On special teams, he serves as the team’s long-snapper. Heppner was likely already the most underappreciated player for Adams, and I think he’ll do wonderful this season!
DE | Sean Wilson | Oxford | Hudl
Wilson had some flashes last season, based on his tape. As a two-way starter, Sean proved to be a high-effort player who isn’t afraid to be physical. Offensively, he has some good highlights as a lead blocker, establishing physical dominance. Defensively, he’s a good DE who has a quick getoff and beats linemen with his effort and speed. As long as Sean has been working hard this offseason, then he’s bound to take another step up.
DT | Xzavier Davis | West Bloomfield | Hudl
This is one of those offseason warriors who’s taken a lot of coaching, earned an offer, and is set to be a staple of the West Bloomfield Defense. Xzavier’s film shows an excellent ability to anchor himself and be that brick wall. That said, his build and skills work well for run defense. In the offseason, he obviously worked quite a bit on his pass-rush ability. His arms aren’t the longest, but he’s still able to use his strength to fire out and out-physical opposing linemen. I fully expect Xzavier to be a great player in the OAA Red!
T | Spencer Beckeman | Stoney Creek | Hudl
Here’s another guy who’s put in the work this offseason. His film shows a lot of good flashes, and his size gives him college potential. I personally don’t recall seeing Spencer at a camp, but his X (Twitter) shows him at Toledo, MSU, and Rising Stars. With his offseason workload alongside throwing shotput in the spring, I expect a jump in quality from Spencer.
OLB | Nick Waszczenko Nick Waszczenko 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Clarkston | 2024 State MI | Clarkston | Hudl
Nick is a player I’ve gone back and forth on for a while. He has some truly great traits, but also a few that are unfortunate. Starting with the bad- Nick is a bit undersized, has short arms, and can play a bit stiff. The good- he’s a relentless worker who I’ve seen perform amazingly at times this offseason. Nick has improved with his overall getoff, and he’s able to be more bendy and fluid around contact. His strength is a major asset of his, and he’ll be able to straight-up manhandle blockers with his physical tools. It should be a great season for Nick and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do!
