In this post, we take a look at the Tuttle Tigers.
Tuttle Tigers
Preseason Prep Redzone Ranking: #4
Preseason Coaches Ranking: #3
The Tuttle Tigers are right back in the mix and in the conversation for one of the best teams in Class 4A as we head into the 2023 season. And they want to put the memory of the 2022 season as far behind them as possible. They lost three games by a combined nine points. The first loss happened when the go-ahead touchdown was scored with just over a minute left. The second loss happened with no time left on the clock and the final loss happened to the eventual state champions in the quarterfinal round. Tuttle is tired of being the good luck charm in Class 4A as the last three teams to beat Tuttle in the playoffs went on to capture the state championship. Wagoner did it twice (2020 & 2022) and Clinton did it prior to their 2021 championship. This year, Tuttle wants that gold ball back and they have the returning firepower to make another run this fall.
The Tigers will have a new quarterback under center but they bring seven starters back on the offensive side of the ball, including almost all of their production from the skill positions. Several of those returning starters will also turn around and see plenty of playing time on the defensive side of the ball. They bring back six starters on defense and look to pick up where they left off from last season. Now, before the Tigers can start worrying about the playoffs and making another run at the state championship, they have to worry about their district. Last season, 4A-2 was one of the toughest districts in the state and it has the chance to be that again this fall. Bethany, Blanchard and Newcastle are all once again very strong and will provide the Tigers with plenty of chances to stumble on their potential road to Edmond.

Players To Watch
Tuttle’s 2025 standout Brady McAdoo is one of the top playmakers in Class 4A and we think that he certainly has the potential to be one of the top playmakers in the state, regardless of class. McAdoo went through spring drills after a surgery earlier this year. He’s ready to get back on the field and have a big junior season. In the one game that we watched in person last season, McAdoo was one of the best players on the football field. Whether he lines up at running back, wide receiver or somewhere on defense, McAdoo is definitely a player that has a lot of promise moving forward. But after missing some time last season, the Tuttle standout should be hungry coming into this fall to make up for lost time.
Highlights
The Tigers will have a new quarterback this fall but they will benefit from having some experience in front of him on the offensive line. 2024 lineman Jace Warren Jace Warren 6’1″ | OL Tuttle | 2024 OK leads that unit as he’s going into his third season as a starter. Like several Tuttle standouts, Warren also turns around and plays defense. He was one of Tuttle’s leading tacklers last season with 80 tackles on the season. The Tuttle defense is going to have a few new faces at the various levels but having an experienced player like Warren back is certainly going to help. We’re very intrigued by the impact that Warren can have for this team as one of the more experienced players. There’s no doubt that he’s hungry to lead Tuttle back to the top.
As mentioned above, one of the bigger question marks heading into this season is the new face at the quarterback position. But the Tigers will have the benefit of bringing back some serious talent to make plays at the skill positions. 2024 wide receiver Mark Douglas Mark Douglas 6’0″ | WR Tuttle | 2024 State OK is one of those players at the wide receiver position. He was one of the breakout players for the Tigers last season. Coaches were excited about his potential prior to last season and he was able to be an impact player within the offense. Now, if he can take the next step as a playmaker and become even more productive, the Tuttle offense will have a chance to be pretty special. Douglas will look to improve his stats in all three receiving categories.
Noah McDoulett Noah McDoulett 6’5″ | 215 lbs | DL Tuttle | 2024 State OK is the other 2025 Tuttle prospect that we are very interested in watching this fall to see what he can be. At 6’5 and over 200 pounds, McDoulett immediately stands out whenever he’s on the football field. Wherever the Tigers decide to put McDoulett, he has the chance to be a big impact player. He certainly reminds us of the Tuttle team from a few years ago that had so much size, especially on the line of scrimmage. Last season, McDoulett had plenty of production on the offensive side of the ball and we’re looking forward to seeing what he does for an encore this fall. Like Douglas, McDoulett is going to give the Tuttle passing game a major target and could be very productive this season.

2023 Schedule/Games To Circle
Aug. 25 – Cache
Sept. 8 – AT Noble
Sept. 15 – AT Guthrie
– We mention this in the Guthrie preview but it seems absurd that these two programs never played prior to the 2022 season. Given how successful they’ve been over the last two decades and how they mirror each other in a lot of ways, it seems like the perfect match-up. Tuttle hopes for a different outcome this year after Guthrie stunned them with a little over a minute to play in their first ever meeting last fall. They’ll hope to win but more importantly they’ll look to get out healthy so they are completely ready for arguably the toughest district in Class 4A once again.
Sept. 22 – Bethany
Sept. 29 – Harrah
Oct. 6 – AT Blanchard
– The Tigers have had this one circled ever since walking off the field of their last meeting in 2022. Blanchard stunned the Tigers with a 30-28 victory last fall with a walk-off touchdown to steal the win right out of Tuttle’s hands. The Tigers put together a strong scoring drive to respond to Blanchard’s scoring drive late in the fourth quarter. Trailing 24-21, Tuttle scored with less than a minute left to go up 28-24. There was too much time apparently and the Lions would win in dramatic fashion. That, plus the fact that these are arguably the top two teams in the district and it should be a great match-up.
Oct. 12 – Bridge Creek
Oct. 20 – AT Tecumseh
Oct. 27 – Newcastle
– Late in the season, another district showdown will be in week nine as the Tigers host Newcastle. This has been a series that has been absolutely dominated by the Tigers. They’ve won ten straight meetings against the Racers with the last Newcastle win coming back in 2014. But last season, this was a much closer match-up as Tuttle would escape with a 27-20 victory but 2023’s match-up could be even closer. We mentioned how tough this district is going to be and Newcastle is another team in 4A-2 that expects to contend, not only for the district, but for the state title as well.
Nov. 3 – AT Classen SAS
Notable
We’ve mentioned often how the Tigers are one of the more dominant teams in Class 4A over the last half decade and they have the numbers to back it up. Tuttle has gone a combined 57-8 in the last five seasons with at least ten wins in four of the five seasons during that stretch. As mentioned earlier, last year was the first year since 2017 that they fell short of ten wins. That also includes an undefeated run to the 2018 state championship game and another championship appearance in 2021. In fact, no other team in Class 4A has more wins than Tuttle over the last five years. They’re in a rare conversation with other perennial powers like defending champion Wagoner, Poteau and Clinton, all of which have won championships in the last five seasons. And as the Tigers go into the 2023 season, they expect to contend for the state championship again, start a new streak of double digit win seasons and continue to dominate Class 4A like the last several years.
