A lot of that talent will be on display in a big showcase game against South Carolina power Northwestern to start this upcoming season, so a lot of people will be anxious to see can the Chargers compete and defeat a very strong public school opponent. That game notwithstanding, they will be big favorites to repeat as champions in their classification. Let’s take a look at this top-level talent:
OFFENSE
QB Jadyn Davis Jadyn Davis 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Providence Day | 2024 State NC – The #1 ranked player by a number of recruiting sites in North Carolina, Davis committed to play at Michigan out of a large number of schools after his services. Davis is not overly big at 6’1 and 200 pounds, but precision accuracy, good arm strength, and some dual-threat ability are his calling cards and have propelled him on this huge stage.
WR Jordan Shipp Jordan Shipp 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Providence Day | 2024 State NC – One of Davis’s main targets has set a commitment date of July 16th and is down to three schools: Michigan, NC State, and North Carolina. Any of those schools would love to have this dynamic and physically gifted receiver at 6’2 and 195 pounds. He has very strong hands, runs precise routes, and can high-point the ball better than any receiver I’ve ever seen live.
WR Channing Goodwin Channing Goodwin 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Providence Day | 2024 State NC – Channing is following his teammate Jadyn to Ann Arbor, and this 6’1 180 pound prospect is a game-breaker. I like seeing him make big plays over the top of the defense with his elite speed and excellent agility. He also plays some defensive back for the Chargers as well.
OL David Sanders Jr. David Sanders Jr. 6'7" | 270 lbs | OL Providence Day | 2025 State NC – A 5-star recruit by many services’ assessment, Sanders is a massive 2025 prospect at 6’7 and 260 pounds. He has a ton of offers – not only because of his incredible physical traits, but because he is a mauler with very nimble feet at the OL position, and he can get after the quarterback on defense as well for the Chargers. Elite athleticism, and by all accounts a great young man off the field as well.
OL Leo Delaney Leo Delaney 6'6" | 275 lbs | OL Providence Day | 2026 State NC – I covered Leo back in mid-March at a camp setting and he had no Division 1 offers and I was amazed. He is 6’6 and 270 pounds and plays with excellent technique and great feet and strength. Fast forward a few months, and he has offers from Charlotte, NC State, NC Central, and North Carolina and as word gets out, I’m sure more will come his way.
DEFENSE
DB Brody Barnhardt – Brody is a quick-twitch DB that can fly all over the field from his safety position. He stands at 6’0 and 195 pounds and committed to play football at NC State this spring. He also is a sparkplug on special teams for the Chargers and has made game-changing plays with the ball in his hands.
LB Lukas Santwier Lukas Santwier 5'10" | 185 lbs | LB Providence Day | 2024 State NC – A tough and fiery leader on the Charger defense, Lukas had a strong season last year from the linebacker spot with 111 tackles and 18 tackles for loss. He holds an offer from Hampden-Sydney currently and will be a major part of their success on this side of the ball.
DL Miles Funderburk Miles Funderburk 6'1" | 280 lbs | OL Providence Day | 2026 State NC – Class of 2026 prospect is a hard-working OL/DL for the Chargers and displays one of the best attitudes and work ethic levels I’ve ever seen in a kid. He plays with good technique and fundamental strength at 6’1 and 280 pounds. He currently holds an offer from Campbell.
DB Braxton Winston Braxton Winston 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Providence Day | 2025 State NC III – A Class of 2025 cornerback prospect, Winston stands at 6’1 and 175 pounds. He has very good speed and plays with an aggressive man-to-man technique which he excels at. He has a number of Division 1 offers including Duke, Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, and Boston College to name a few.
