Continue ReadingNorth Allegheny is hoping to bring some of the magic they had last year back into the 2023 season. The Tigers went undefeated in conference play at 4-0 and 11-2 overall. They had a stellar 6-0 record at home and an impressive 4-1 record away last season. North Allegheny emerged victorious in the WPiAL and triumphed over Pittsburgh Central Catholic and Cannon Mac in the playoffs. However, their playoff journey came to an end with a 28-7 loss to State College. This year, North Allegheny kicks off their season on August 25, 2023, against Taylor Allderdice.

You can see that NFL pedigree shining through in Tyree’s defensive approach, much like his father Tyson who made a name for himself as a former DL for the Pittsburgh Steelers. When Tyree is in pursuit of ball carriers, his lateral movement is truly impressive, allowing him to track them down with precision. His blitzes are relentless, putting intense pressure on the QB time and time again. Tyree has exceptional strength and he’s not afraid to use it. When he makes a tackle, he delivers physicality that can dislodge the ball from RBs, causing turnovers and changing the game’s momentum. Tyree is a true game-changer, wreaking havoc on the field with his open-field tackles. Tyree, the Tasmanian Devil, was recently named LB MVP at ESPN’s Elite Hawaii Camp. He has FBS offers from Oregon, San Diego State, Coastal Carolina, Kent State, and Liberty, to name a couple.
Chmura has violent hand usage, effortlessly disengaging blockers to reach the ball carrier with finesse. His explosive get-off provides him a consistent presence in the backfield, making life difficult for opposing offenses. Offensive linemen struggle to gain leverage against him due to his consistently low pad level. With his strength, Chmura excels in both disrupting passing plays and asserting dominance in the run game, effectively locking out offensive linemen. His textbook sideline-to-sideline effort and A1 motor remain evident, as he never gives up on a play, even when it appears to be out of his immediate vicinity. Cameron recently committed to the D1 FBS Marshall Thundering Herd.

Sellers has explosiveness right off the snap, showcasing a combination of power and finesse during his pass-rushing moves. His agility seamlessly translate into his pursuit of the ball carrier. His commitment to giving a relentless effort from sideline to sideline, coupled with his impressive lateral movement, establishes him as an imposing force along the line of scrimmage. Standing tall with his size, he effortlessly disrupts passing lanes by swatting down airborne passes. On special teams his versatility shines through as he consistently makes valuable contributions in multiple facets of the game. Sellers looked good at the 2 Tengths Top 150 Camp with added muscle mass and quickness. He currently has 9 D1 scholarship offers on the table.

Evan Lyon
Evan is a two-sport standout who plays with heart and physicality. He’s a solid tackler in space and runs the alley aggressively. His football IQ helps him when reading and reacting on the football field. Evan is instinctual and rangy on the backend. He plays safety with the right tempo and consistently contests passes while playing man-free.
Lyon plays with intensity on both sides of the ball. He’s a football player capable of breaking a game open. On offense, he showcases his playmaking ability by doing a variety of things, including reverses, jet sweeps, screens, and playing the wildcat QB. He has reliable hands and leaves everything on the field.
Boyd’s a prospect that’s blessed with D1 acceleration that enables him to score from any location on the gridiron. He possesses explosiveness and an impressive skill for executing impactful plays. Observing him closely, you’ll notice his initial burst off the line of scrimmage and the fluidity with which he accelerates and decelerates during his cuts. His lateral agility is impressive, and his hands are undeniably strong. On the defensive side of the ball, Boyd exhibits extraordinary recovery speed and a natural ability to track and make plays on the football. The passion and unwavering confidence he brings to the game are evident in his ability to consistently make an impact on offense and defense alike. Boyd has D1 FCS offers to Howard, Robert Morris,and Duquesne.
He possesses mobility as a QB, showcasing his capability to make accurate throws while on the move. His athleticism grants him the talent to extend plays and evade pressure through scrambling. Logan exhibits arm strength and also astute judgment when deciding between lofting a pass or firing it. He’s proficient in distributing the ball evenly, avoiding fixating on specific targets. Logan’s greatest threat lies in executing play-action bootlegs and utilizing his improvisational skills. He’s received offers from Wheeling and Notre Dame College in the Mountain East conference.
Buggey is a 6’0, 220 lbs athlete with a bright future ahead. He excels at blitzing from a two or three-point stance, utilizing his speed to overwhelm QBs whether he’s pass rushing from LB depth or off the line of scrimmage. When playing as a DE, his explosive first step allows him to swiftly redirect and pursue the ball carrier along the line. With his strength, he can deliver punishing hits to opposing ball carriers, taking advantage of his low center of gravity to generate power against offensive linemen and block as a fullback. He demonstrates excellent hand violence, synchronizing it with his movements to effectively disrupt opponents. On the offensive side, Buggey exhibits quick-twitch athleticism when running the ball and making cuts. His strength enables him to break tackles, while his ball skills contribute to his success in catching passes. Buggey currently holds a football offer from the PSAC program Clarion.
Jack’s got the prototypical measurements for a D1 player, standing at 6’3 and weighing in at a solid 290 pounds. He moves well, displaying agility and quickness despite his bulk. When he lines up on the interior, his strength and low pad level become a real headache for opposing defenses. He’s got the power and mobility to make things happen in tight spaces. He consistently runs his feet through contact with aggression. He brings a nasty demeanor to the field, relishing in asserting his physicality against opponents. When it comes to pass protection, his footwork and punch are solid, and he consistently establishes proper hand placement on his blocks. He’s talented at executing zone and down blocks. He can maneuver his way through tight spaces with impressive fluidity, making the necessary adjustments to seal off running lanes.
Liam will be looking to contribute more this season in any way possible. He shows balance and strength when given the opportunity to run the football. Liam appears to have improved his speed and explosion by working at The Lab Sports Performance in Cranberry, PA, during the offseason. Flaherty scored a touchdown last season and hopefully finds the end zone more frequently this season.
Highlights
Langdon is a tough player with a lot of room left for improvement. He’s decently sized, measuring in at 6’0, 200 lbs. He consistently gives a good effort from sideline to sideline and displays strong lateral movement. As a fullback, he excels as a stout blocker and possesses great ball skills for catching passes out of the backfield. He is an overall physical player who delivers impactful hits to ball carriers when he needs to chase them down. As a ’25 athlete, he will have a larger role this year at linebacker and will also provide depth in the offensive backfield.
Thomas looked good and had a limited role in 2022. He explodes out of his stance and does a good job getting after the quarterback. Last season, Thomas recorded two quarterback sacks. His first sack came against Allderdice, and his second sack was against Baldwin High School. North Allegheny utilized multiple players for success last year, and Thomas is expected to have an expanded role in ’22.
