We've got 4 talented recruits who I think people should watch just for fun this fall. They are going to make an impact somewhere on Saturdays, so you might as well get an early glimpse.

Hess is coming off of a dominant season on both sides of the ball and should be one of the top targets for schools as they begin their 2024 search. Hess is able to play inside and outside on the offense. He's got the length for tackle and mobility for Guard. He's powerful in his lower body and does a great job staying under control. Defensively, he's deceptive and uses that knowledge from offense against the OLinemen he deals with. He can create penetration with 1-on-1s and then is quick enough to come off the edge and collapse the pocket if needed. On both sides of the ball, he's smart and seems able to adapt and learn on the fly. Last season defensively he put up 43 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 2 sacks while being the best OL for them as well. He rightfully earned an All-State nod as well. Hess is set for a massive senior year; if he can duplicate his performance, he'll be a household name.

[player_tooltip player_id='930632' first='Marcus' last='Henderson'] - South Bend Riley - OL - 6'2" 275lbs - 2024

Henderson is a rising recruit for South Bend Riley for a list of reasons. His raw athleticism and speed for his size are noticeable, plus he's just a genuinely good athlete. He's off the line quickly and does a good job with balance and staying off his heels. He's on his toes attacking and driving defenders back. Especially in the running game when on the move, he's able to clear the way with ease. He's not particularly the guy you want to see coming around the corner if you're a DB/LB looking to make a play in the running game. My biggest knock on Henderson right now would be his weight, which is almost wild when you see he's 275lbs. I think that speaks to the potential of him and his frame, though. He looks like a guy who could play at 300lbs or above easily, and not be rounded at all. As of now, he's still lengthy and a bit light in the lower half. Once he gets up to speed in the weight room, he's going to become an excavator and just clear everything out of the way. Henderson is also able to make an impact defensively, which is where he may have a bigger role this year. A big year lies ahead for the South Bend product.

[player_tooltip player_id='544536' first='Luke' last='Russell'] - Columbus North - LB/TE - 6'3" 225lbs - 2025

Russell had a breakout season all things considered last year, but isn't getting the same attention as others. He's an incredibly physical player who has a great frame. He's fantastic at coming downhill and could be a hybrid type who is on and off the line when needed. He's able to jump gaps and create penetration into the backfield easily as well. He's strong and is only going to get stronger. You can tell he lifts and it's paying off early. It's only going to benefit him more over the next few years and once he hits college. On the season he put up 45 tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. However, it was his game against Bishop Chatard that really stood out above all. The light clicked that week for him. He went from 3 tackles a game to 11 that week and never looked back. He was flying all over the field with confidence and making big hits. They ended up losing that game, but Russell was a different player from that week on. I'm set to watch Columbus North this year and Russell is one player I'm really looking forward to seeing play in person.

[player_tooltip player_id='930631' first='Carter' last='Holsworth'] - Jasper - RB - 6'0" 200lbs - 2024

Holsworth is a dynamic back who hasn't played his best ball yet. He's jittery, can make special cuts, and has fairly good vision to find cutback lanes. With his agility and ability to cut and accelerate, which is rare, he's able to get out the backdoor in a hurry and be gone. He's got the top-end speed to hit the home run play. Truthfully, he's coming from a triple-option offense which doesn't get him space very often. He has to create it, which he does well. But, I think once he gets into a zone-like system, he could really flourish. He's got the speed to push the edge and the ability to cut up field and make those big runs that Zone creates. He's also a bigger back who can then handle some hits and bounce off of them. While I don't know if he has any experience in the passing game or blocking, I have no doubts he could learn at the collegiate level quickly. Last season just rotating in Holsworth put up 696 rushing yards and 6 TDs. With another year of development under his belt, Holsworth could really have a huge year, but more importantly, be a steal for the right program.
