Some of these groups have so many good players you could pick a name out of a hat and roll with them and be just fine. This article I’m going to look at 4 position groups that I feel that exact way about.
- QB– The QB position is very deep, as there are a ton of guys with at least D2 potential, and multiple guys at the top that are committed or capable of playing D1 football. Guys like Notre Dame commit CJ Carr CJ Carr 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Saline | 2024 State MI and Kansas commit Isaiah Marshall Isaiah Marshall 6'0" | 210 lbs | QB Southfield A&T | 2024 State MI lead a strong group of QBs, along with Toledo commit Kalieb Osborne Kalieb Osborne 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Waterford Mott | 2024 State MI . There are some guys that hold a lot of D2 offers like Preston Otter Preston Otter 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Phillips Exeter Academy | 2025 MI from Nouvel, along with some guys needing more attention like Ben Buzzard Ben Buzzard 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Charlotte | 2024 MI from Charlotte, Ryan Shelby Ryan Shelby QB North Farmington | 2024 State MI from North Farmington and especially Jake Zann Jake Zann 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Alpena | 2024 State MI from Alpena. Also, keep an eye out for some breakout potential from some watchlisters like Alek Wickstrom Alek Wickstrom 5'11" | 155 lbs | QB West Catholic | 2024 State MI from West Catholic, and Cooper Nye Cooper Nye 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB Airport | 2024 State MI who could shoot up recruiting boards with good performances in their senior year. There are still a ton of guys I didn’t even mention that I am super high on, showing just how strong this QB class is heading into their final high school season.
- WR– There is no shortage of talent at the WR position here in Michigan. Michigan State commit Nick Marsh Nick Marsh 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR River Rouge | 2024 State MI leads the charge in a super loaded WR class, along with Miami (OH) commit Braylon Isom Braylon Isom 6'3" | 195 lbs | ATH Saginaw Heritage | 2024 State MI from Saginaw Heritage and Southfield A&T stud Tashi Braceful Tashi Braceful 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Southfield A&T | 2024 State MI . There’s some guys starting to roll in the offers like South Christian wideout Jake Vermaas Jake Vermaas 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR South Christian | 2024 State MI , and Jalen Johnson Jalen Johnson 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Belleville | 2024 State MI from Belleville. Deeper in the class you have some under the radar guys that can make a splash at the next level like Benzie Central WR Jaxon Childers Jaxon Childers 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Benzie Central | 2024 State MI , and Mekhi Wingfield Mekhi Wingfield 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Concord | 2024 State MI from the 8- Player division that could be a D1 receiver if he is given the chance! I love this WR class and all it has to offer.
- DL– Defensive line has a strong and uncontested #1 with Brandon Davis- Swain who will be heading out to Colorado to play under Coach Prime, but there are a ton of guys down the list that also have cases of being strong prospects. Not far from Davis- Swain are guys like Javon Thomas Javon Thomas 6'4" | 255 lbs | DL East Lansing | 2024 State MI from East Lansing, Tyler Dosh Tyler Dosh 6'0" | 225 lbs | DL Davison | 2024 State MI from Davison and Camren Vansolkema Camren Vansolkema 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL South Christian | 2024 State MI who are all absolute problems in the trenches! The DL class is special this year because there is a ton of talent from smaller or less recruited schools like Noah Johnson Noah Johnson 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Kingsford | 2024 State MI out of Kingsford, Carson Berkompas Carson Berkompas 6'1" | 180 lbs | DL Charlotte | 2024 State MI from Charlotte, and Gabe luck out of Newberry all the way in the UP! It’s a deep class with a lot of talent and you can’t go wrong with a lot of these guys as I think they can make tons of noise at the collegiate level.
- RB– The RB class may be the best of the bunch, as they are loaded top to bottom with capable runners at the next level. Starting with the top 3 ranked backs we have, Brock Townsend Brock Townsend 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Caledonia | 2024 State MI has committed to Central Michigan, Billy Roberson II Billy Roberson II 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Lake Orion | 2024 State MI just tweeted that his announcement is coming soon, and he has his pick of a ton of schools at various levels, and Nakai Amachree Nakai Amachree 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Haslett | 2024 State MI made his case for one of the most athletic and electrifying athletes this state has to offer. Down the list is a lot of underrated talent like Eli DeYoung Eli DeYoung 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Gobles | 2024 State MI , a standout at Gobles in the 8- Player divisions, Bryan Weathersby Jr Bryan Weathersby Jr 5'7" | 185 lbs | RB Roseville | 2024 State MI from Roseville who has been showing a lot of promise this offseason that he could break out and take over, along with Charlie DeBruyn Charlie DeBruyn 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB West Catholic | 2024 State MI from West Catholic, who will look to replace a lot of production from their backfield last season en route to a state title. There are a ton of backs across the state that could easily make a program better that aren’t getting a ton of attention yet. It’s so crowded it’s easy to lose track of all of them, because it’s such a deep field.
There are more position groups that are loaded with talent, but these are my favorite 4. Be on the lookout when the season starts because we may have others jumping up this list very soon!
