2024 Rankings Update 2.0: Wide Receivers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With the 2023 high school football season quickly approaching, it is time for some rankings updates! For the state of Kentucky, the updated Top 200 rankings for the talented 2024 class have been posted. With that being said, I will be taking the next couple weeks to breakdown these updated rankings by position. After already covering the quarterback and running back positions, I will now turn my attention to the top wide receivers in the state of Kentucky in the class of 2024.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["313656"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"[player_tooltip player_id='313656' first='Shaun' last='Boykins'] has consistently proven to be the top receiver in the state in his class. He had an impressive junior year, catching 56 passes for 897 yards and ten touchdowns. Boykins is a true burner in the deep passing game, using his speed to run right by defensive backs to create separation. He has also shown the ability to create separation with quick breaks in his routes. Boykins is also very dangerous after the catch, showing the ability to turn short passes and screens into big plays at any moment. He has been used out of the backfield as a ball carrier at times, finishing this past season with 28 carries for 221 yards and five touchdowns. Vaughn finished this past season with 39 receptions for 862 yards and nine touchdowns. He is a very athletic wide receiver that is a dangerous deep threat on the outside. Vaughn has shown the ability to use double moves along with his impressive speed to blow by opposing defensive backs to create separation. He also has the speed and elusiveness in the open field to make big plays after the catch. Vaughn has also shown the ability to pose as a dangerous threat on special teams as a returner. While he only was able to play in seven games due to an injury, he still found a way to be productive when on the field. He finished his junior year with 37 catches for 445 yards and five touchdowns. Gainey has very impressive athleticism, showing the ability to go up and catch contested passes at their highest point. He also has the speed to run by opposing defensive backs to create separation in the deep passing game. After the catch, Gainey has shown the ability to use his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes and screens into big plays. He had an outstanding junior year, catching 52 passes for 1,008 yards and 12 touchdowns. Barlow thrives out of the slot where he is able to use his speed to his advantage to run right by opposing defensive backs to pose as a threat in the deep passing game. He is also a very impressive route runner. Barlow has a quick release which he uses to create early separation and he also has very smooth breaks in his routes. Easton is also very reliable in contested catch situations, showing the athleticism to go up and catch the ball at its highest point along with the toughness to make catches through contact. Stewart is coming off an impressive junior season in which he finished with 53 receptions for 1,065 yards and nine touchdowns. He mainly lines up on the outside where he is a very dangerous deep threat. Stewart has the speed to run by opposing defensive backs to create separation. He also does a great job of looking in passes over his shoulder and adjusting to the ball to make tough catches when necessary. Carter is also a very reliable blocker in the run game, showing the ability to drive his man out of the picture with ease. Stewart has also proven to have special teams value as a returner.
