Through college camps, film study, and nearly another full offseason, a ton of new names have emerged in this class. There are a few names in particular that truly raised their stock, and I’ll be going over quite a few of those names today!
#34 –> #10 | Ty Hudkins Ty Hudkins 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Forest Hills Central | 2024 State MI | DB | Hudl
Ty has always been one of “my guys.” I remember the first time I ever saw him was over Twitter while he locked up Nick Marsh Nick Marsh 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR River Rouge | 2024 State MI . Quickly, I became intrigued. Ty then participated in one of our Prospect Camps, and that’s when he truly sold me. At the time, I had Ty ranked way ahead of more well-known guys, but over the past year or so, he’s truly proven to be one of the elite prospects in the class of 2024. Just yesterday, Evan Floyd of CBS Sports reported an outstanding showcase for Ty at a Wisconsin Camp, and I expect an offer from the Badgers soon. Ty already holds BIG 10 offers from Minnesota, Purdue, and Northwestern.
Specifically on his abilities, I’ve always been blown away by how fast-twitch Ty is. His hips are incredibly fluid, feet are lightning-quick, and he’s always working on his craft. Ty is one of those guys where you’ll be impressed by his film, but blown away once you see him in person. I’d truly recommend Ty to any P5 program.
#84 –> #24 | Billy Roberson II Billy Roberson II 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Lake Orion | 2024 State MI | RB | Hudl
After a lot of review and internal debate, Billy Roberson II Billy Roberson II 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Lake Orion | 2024 State MI emerges as our #1 Running Back in the 2024 class. When you look at his film and see his stats when compared with other RBs, I knew his floor was #3 and his deserving rank was #1. Billy ran for 126.5 Yards Per Game with 7.6 YPC in the OAA Red; which hosts some of the best defenses in Michigan. His film showcases a true bell-cow RB style, and he’s projected to be a great blueprint 3-down back in college. On film, Billy showcases a balanced game with good speed, good athleticism, good vision, and he oftentimes fights through contact for extra yards. I believe that Billy is the most well-rounded RB in this class, and has the highest ceiling for the college game.
#68 –> #37 | Shamar Riser-Pressley Shamar Riser-Pressley 6'6" | 225 lbs | DL Clintondale | 2024 State MI | DL | Hudl
Shamar was always a bit under-ranked for us, and a lot of that comes down to me not seeing him in person until this off-season. Once I finally saw Shamar at Legacy, It gave me the confidence to rank him quite high. This is a super long and athletic defensive end who has a good arsenal of pass-rush moves already. I was impressed by his ability to win against a wide variety of linemen using a multitude of techniques. Shamar is looking like a MAC prospect right now, but he’s also received 2 elite DII offers from Ferris State and Grand Valley State.
#62 –> #40 | Jake Price Jake Price 5'6" | 175 lbs | RB Muskegon | 2024 State MI | RB | Hudl
Price was always a bit of a stock riser for me, but he further improved his stock a few days ago at the Ferris State Showcase at Muskegon High School. Jake was phenomenal, as he was easily the top Running Back at the showcase. The initial agility drills showcased his ability to change direction on a dime, and the drills were often introduced an element where he’d have to think on his feet. Needless to say, I really liked what Price was able to do there. With the receiving 1v1s against the linebackers, Jake always went up against the better competition at the showcase, and he won the majority of his reps. It’s also notable that he was 1st in line during every single drill. Undoubtedly a Division 1 prospect in my eyes, and I think he’d find a nice home in the MAC.
#64 –> #41 | Jake Vermaas Jake Vermaas 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR South Christian | 2024 State MI | WR | Hudl
You knew this one was coming. Since the State Championship back in November, Jake has been a guy I’ve watched very closely. Being the #3 ranked WR is pretty dang high, but he’s done plenty to earn that right. Jake’s movement is overall as smooth as butter. His routes are clean, sports an impressive vertical, and is able to catch some very difficult balls. He has some of the best focus I’ve seen from a WR, and I’ve watched him win too many 1v1 reps to not rank him high. I’ve told quite a few college programs about Jake, and I’m happy to see he’s gained high-end DII attention, but I think his potential is even higher.
#141 –> #54 | Devon Pettus Devon Pettus 6'1" | 230 lbs | RB Canton | 2024 State MI | RB | Hudl
I did a ton of work diving into each and every one of the RBs in this class, and Devon was actually one of the last evaluations I completed. Devon is a 1000-yard rusher through just 9 games, averaging 7.6 yards per carry. I really like Devon’s ability to play through the whistle on every play, oftentimes bowling through tackles and gaining those precious yards after contact. Devon explodes out of his stance, and once he gets to the second level, he’s usually gone. I love Devon’s film, and I’ve heard great things about him from other sources. He’s just earned a PWO from Central Michigan, but I have a great feeling a MAC scholarship offer is coming.
#128 –> #65 | Camren Vansolkema Camren Vansolkema 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL South Christian | 2024 State MI | DL | Hudl
Honestly, this is a mix of genuine stock-rising and me mistakingly ranking Camren a tad lower than I wanted to last time around. Camren is a soon-to-be 4-year Varsity starter for a consistent State-Championship contending program. His power as an interior defensive lineman is great, and he’s simply unblockable against most teams he faces. I also know he’s putting in the work at Powerstrengh, and he’ll always have a leg up when it comes to overall power. I think Camren is a potential Division 1 defensive lineman and offensive lineman, though I actually think his ceiling is higher on defense.
