Continue ReadingI have been impressed with the depth of talent St. Louis has at the quarterback position. The 2024 class has some talented QBs who have not received the attention I believe they deserve. The six quarterbacks in this article are not only some of the best in St. Louis, but some of the top passers in the entire state. Below, I highlight the ideal tools for college quarterbacking that these prospects display on tape.
Grant Gibson Grant Gibson 6’2″ | 210 lbs | QB Rockwood Summit | 2024 State MO is a talented three-sport athlete out of Rockwood Summit High School. Grant has visited Butler, Pitt State, Valparaiso, and Upper Iowa just this spring. With good size and a college arm, look for Grant’s first offer to come sooner rather than later.
Grant’s arm strength and good eyes show launching balls off-balance after successfully avoiding traffic in the pocket. Grant shows next level poise and accuracy delivering precise throws on five step drops in the face of pressure. Coaches like Grant’s flashes of good anticipation that shows hitting well-timed seam shots versus zone coverage.

Adam Shipley Adam Shipley 5’10” | 170 lbs | QB Francis Howell | 2024 State MO is committed to play baseball at St. Louis University. However, it should come as no surprise when I say coaches are trying to get Adam’s arm talent on the field and off of the pitcher’s mound. It will be fun to watch the defending state champion close out his football career this fall.
Adam’s playmaking ability shows slicing through traffic as a runner and breaking off numerous chunk plays executing designed quarterback runs. Anticipation shows on well-timed throws that land on the money in deep crossing patterns. Coaches like seeing Adam’s next level poise and mobility navigating traffic within the pocket and quickly resetting his feet before pressure gets to him.
I last had Antwon in a sleepers article of mine in March. Since then, Antwon has visited Western Illinois and dominated in track & field. I may have been the one sleeping on Antwon due to splitting time behind center; Expect coaches within the region not to make the same mistake as Antwon’s recruitment heats up going forward.
Next level arm strength shows using velocity instead of touch to squeeze deep balls into tight windows versus zone coverage. Antwon shows a good combination of accuracy and mobility delivering well-placed throws outside of the pocket. Athleticism shows as a runner, but next level size and strength shows consistently running through arm tackles; Still, with enough tools you can’t coach, watch for Antwon to have multiple schools to choose from where he can develop into a full-time passer.
Marco Sansone Marco Sansone 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB St. Louis University High | 2024 State MO is in the middle of a lacrosse playoff run for St. Louis University High School. Marco just received his first offer from Bucknell University. Expect more offers to come in before Marco’s final football season is finished.
Marco’s anticipation shows delivering perfectly timed throws on dig and post routes versus zone coverage. Next level arm strength shows leading receivers horizontally from the opposite hashmark. Accuracy shows in good touch deep and well-placed hole shots that require increased velocity. Coaches like Marco’s combination of good decision making and mobility when forced out of the pocket.
Beau Dolan Beau Dolan 6’2″ | 190 lbs | QB Ladue | 2024 State MO is a three-year starter from Ladue High School. Beau recently received his first offer from Benedictine College in Kansas. Look for the talented lefty’s offer from Benedictine not to be the only one he receives before the 2023 season gets here.
Beau’s next level accuracy shows delivering strikes to deep over routes in windows between opponents’ zone coverage. Beau’s toughness and arm strength shows increasing velocity and completing throws over the middle with pressure in his face. College coaches won’t care which arm throws the ball when they see Beau delivering strikes on the run to receivers running deep comeback routes.

Jackson Sommerville
Jackson Sommerville
Jackson Sommerville may be the best dual-threat prospect in his class. Jackson holds offers from Northern Iowa and Ball State. I am in shock one of the most dynamic QBs in the state has not been offered by more schools west of the Mississippi River. Be on the lookout for Jackson’s regional recruitment to heat up before his final high school snap has been played.
Good arm strength and anticipation shows on well-timed throws in flood and levels passing concepts. Jackson’s touch highlights his next level accuracy when forced to drop corner routes into a bucket after being pushed out of the pocket. As a runner, Jackson shows speed, good vision, and power in his finish when executing designed quarterback runs. Good balance after contact and elusiveness in space highlight playmaking ability at the next level; Offensive coordinators like his rushing highlights, but the great extend ability he shows with his combination of eyes and athleticism outside the pocket really display Jackson’s rare dual-threat potential.
