College football coaches absolutely love high school players who compete in other sports besides football. And Track & Field is a popular sport among college football coaches in determining a prospects athletic profile and fit with their team. It also gives college strength & conditioning coaches an insight into how to train a prospect if he were to commit to his school. Here in Upstate New York Players Who Run Track, we'll go week to week breaking down players who compete in both football and track & field. Remember this is a series and multiple guys will be highlighted throughout the rest of the summer leading up to fall football practices.

Already boasted a 4.5 laser forty which he ran last camp season at UCONN Mega Camp. He's run sub 11 two times this spring track season. Russell also competes in the 200m where he clocked sub 23 seconds three times this season with a personal best of 22.25. Also has run. 6.48 in indoor track in the 55m dash. Strong athletic profile that should test extremely well at camps this summer. It's still baffling he hasn't picked up moderate to heavy G5 interest already. Although, if all goes well for Russell this summer expect more northeast FCS and northeast Group of 5 schools to show interest.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-647557697bf44"} /-->

Diaz competes in multiple events but his Long Jump ability is one of the main reasons he's on here. Having jumped 21 feet 6.5 inches back in Mid May at the GC Spartan Invitational. And has 9 Long Jumps of 20 feet or more in his career. With 8 of those long jumps coming this season. Diaz has personal best of 11.31 in the 100m, 23.99 in the 200m and 6.82 in the 55m (indoor track). Runs anchor leg for his schools 4x100 relay team which has run the 2nd fastest time in Section V (43.04). And with the athletic resume that Diaz possesses there's no wonder he makes jaw dropping plays on the gridiron during the fall. With a strong summer camping and these updates track u0026amp; field times/marks, Anthony could find a lot more MAC schools, Independent FBS and AAC schools with interest in his services.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-647557697bfa9"} /-->

The Lyons WR has clocked under 11.64 four times this track season with a personal best of 11.40 to win the Section V Class B4 Sectional crown in the 100m. Marcus has also clocked a personal best of 23.62 in the 200m and runs anchor leg for Lyons 4x100 relay team which also won the Class B4 Championship. Should be in line to go under the 11.0 second mark in the 100m next season and if he does that along with a strong junior football season he'll turn into a legit northeast FCS (D1-AA) prospect. Marcus must get out and camp this summer and camp in June and July. With playing in an offense that favors the run over the pass, it doesn't bold well for Wood-Asberry to show his all of WR skills, but multiple camp settings will help that if he performs well enough.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-647655d14c47c"} /-->

Tolbert Jr. competes in the 100m, 200m, 4x100 and the long jump which is why you see his name here. When guys with FBS offer like a [player_tooltip player_id='406845' first='Anthony' last='Diaz'] Long jumps 21 feet 6.5 inches as a junior and you're an 8th grader jumping 19 feet 4 inches, it says a lot about what the future holds for this young prospect. Who could possibly jump 21 feet as a freshman next season. Tolbert Jr. has 3 long jumps of 19 feet or better this season and has personal best of 11.84 in the 100m, 24.52 in the 200m and anchored his schools 4x100 relay team to a 6th place finish at the Section V Class B1 Sectional Championships.. The same Sectional championships that featured the like of [player_tooltip player_id='351235' first='Juelz' last='Russell'] and his UPREP 4x100 relay team. Tolbert Jr. is also Holds the Geneva City School District 8th grade record holder in the 100m, 200m and long jump.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-647655d14c4ff"} /-->

This track u0026amp; field season [player_tooltip player_id='399901' first='Tyrell' last='Simmons'] stands tied for the lead in all of Section V with a jump of 6'4” which is also a UPREP record. He also competes in the long jump, 100m, and triple jump. On top of that he recently won the Section V Class B1 Sectional crown in the boys high jump. And is now gestating up for state qualifiers where he stands a great chance at making states in the high jump and possibly triple jump. Has personal best of 11.64 in the 100m, 20 feet 7.5 inches in the long jump, and 44 feet 1.5 inches in the triple jump.
